Twas the night before Christmas,
and all through the house..........
Not a kitten was laying her pounce for a mouse.

Their pounces were laying stored up in their bounces
like little kitty springs.....waiting for just to unlaunches.

Santa rushed in, and it became then quite clear.
That is wasn't for me that he came this time of year.

I had no presents for me to forsee.......
It was not between him and I, so you see.

This year would be diffrent......a parting as such.
This year there is nothing in the kitties' cup of punch.

He gave me something so special and dear..........
Something so special for this time of year.
He gave me what I already have in my pocket.
The treasure I had stored all year long in my locket.

And I opened that up, and before my did see,
all the things that my Lord in the past year had given to me.
It raised such a bustle that my eyes, they did swell,
just to think that my Lord had treated me so well.

And so, with a wink and a nod and a trudge,

I laid back down with the kitties, no more would I judge.

I don't know what I would do without kitties in my life.
They somehow save me from all kinds of strife..
I know that you think me quite simple and insane.......
But it's truly the kitties that keep me in the lane.

Oh, my......so sad, but a good outcome for this one lucky kitty.....

Cat Survives Two Euthanasia Attempts at Utah Shelter.

Kitty wouldn't go away, and now has a new home, thankfully.

Another episode in the tragedy that is reality for far too many of our kitty friends. Due to the careless disregard of our responsibility to them and other companion animals.

If you wish to help out in my neck of the woods, you may donate to My favorite local kitty charity, the Fox Valley Humane Association....

Meow.

And, on a happier note.......

Lori has been able to do a good deed for the kitty community.

Early in December, one of her co-workers had mentioned a stray kitty that had taken up residence under their porch. Very friendly kitty, and her daughters had been feeding it Chicken McNuggets.......

Anyway, the weather was starting to turn very cold, the kids had canvassed the neighborhood and checked the papers and radio stations, etc., with no success at finding where he came from, so Lori suggested that they 'capture' little kitty and give it to her to take to our favorite shelter. They did, and kitty spent a few days in Lori's garage before being taken to the shelter. She named him Tuxxy, as he was a tuxedo colored kitty. Turned out to be about 2 years old.

We went to visit him in quarantine a week later, and he was lounging in his cage, just as happy as could be to be safe, warm, and fed. A week later, he had been 'fixed', and his picture was on the Petfinder pages for the shelter.

I checked up on him this morning, as I suddenly did not see him listed anymore....turns out he was already adopted at the end of December.....

An elderly lady, who was by all accounts very excited to be adopting him, gave him a new home. Should be a perfect fit, as Tuxxy was the most cuddly and happy kitty you could imagine.

So, once in a while, there are happy kitty stories to share.

Meow meow meow!

Great link Mike:-) Reminded my of how my pooch and his kitty used to play..
Sid was a 54Kg Pyrenean Mountain Dog, and MissKitty, well she was smaller than his head:-)
She'd get up on top of the deep freezer, and wait for him to walk past the do her imitation of the creature from 'Alien', the one that stuck to folks faces:-)

Sid would just amble on while she tried to bite her way into his fur, about 4 paces later he'd shake his head and she'd tumble off onto the floor and he'd start 'grooming' her..

She's a wee bit bonkers, used to vanish outside about 30 mins before Sid was due for his exercise, then once we were out of the house, there she was lying in wait in the hedgerow. Use to have to do an about turn and go back into the house, get her in and then try the dog walking thing again.. But she was absolutely determined that if he was going for a walk so was she..
Trouble is that there ware too many dogs running around loose, Staffs mainly that the local morons were trying to use to gain street cred:-/ Wasnt safe for here too far from the house.

He's been gone 3 years now, but I fancy she still keeps an eye out from the kitchen looking to see if he's comming back:-/

Cliff

Happy Birthday, Squirrel.

On April 12th, God willing, I shall celebrate with Squirrel her 17th year of walking this earthly plane paw in hand with me.

Not bad for a barnyard stray mix rescue kitty!

Although not the spry young thing she once was, and having lost much of her bushy tail from whence came her name, she is still a pretty bouncy and of course, most loving ol' gal. Once in a while, she still gets her dander up and races about like a kitten.

I just held her in my arms petting her for about half an hour and the purrs and big eyes looking into mine were as wonderful as they ever have been.

Since her near death experience (over 2 years ago now) that gained her the nickname of 'miracle kitty', she has done well on her thyroid meds and does not show much evidence of whatever number of her 9 lives she gave up that day just to stay with me. And, she is dearer to me than ever since that day when I thought I had lost her. I still miss her dear sister Tigger, who I lost at the age of 5-1/2 years due to CRF.
Wish she could still be here too.

Please join me in wishing my dearest of kitty companions a most happy 17th birthday.

Meow, Squirrel!

I lost the second of my 2 cats last week Mark :(

I found Chucky collapsed at the side of the house, not long after he'd had his Breakfast.

Both of my cats passed away very close to each other, kinda hard to accept :(

The best and only advice I can give is to adopt a rescue kitty. Soon, and often.
