it will be resent to another wingman. From there anything could happen. the first wingman could return it and validate your work. Or the new wingman may return it. Further, you could have another failed wingman where you'd wind up having yet another wingman.

Hopefully your new wingman will do the work and get it back quickly

Thanks for the replies. I ask this question because I regularly check my pending credit. Recently I had 2 Astro Pulse task that I completed. I receive credit for the one, but the other one "1433 credits" is still pending. When I check out why, I noticed that the user had not even began to crunch that task.
The deadline for that task is the 20/07/2010. Is it possible for the SETI team to check who is the most active, and send the task to them?Or do they send out task randomly?

Johan

Patience is a virtue my friend. It will get done eventually.

Not having that credit RIGHT NOW won't kill you, will it?

How were you able to look into someone else's computer and see that it had not even started the WU that you had finished?

The only info I know how to access is the Results page, where I can see who my wingman is, basic info about his computer, when he got the WU I share with him, and whether or not he has finished it. I cannot look into his computer and see how much work he has done on that particular WU.

Some computers take a lot longer to run a WU than others. It depends on the computer, the operating system, how fast it's processor(s) run, whether it has gpus or not, if it is running stock or optimized apps, and what other work it does. My ancient Mac G4s, which are used for other things besides S@H, take a lot longer to run a WU than many of the newest cruncher, even those that are not totally dedicated to crunching S@H WUs.

Some crunchers run a large cache of work (literally 1000s), and do not report completed WUs until all or a significant portion are done. So even though it only took an hour or so to run the WU, it may not be reported for a day or more after it was finished.

Some wingmen experience computing errors, computer failures, or abandon the project. When the timer expires with no result reported, the WU gets resent, and a new timer starts. I have had WUs where it took me and 4 other wingmen to finally get a validated result - and 4 months to do it. Eventually it gets done, and you get your credit.

As others have said, patience is not just a virtue here, it is a requirement. Especially with the recent changes in server software and the planned mid-week outages.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am guilty to not looking closely at that web page. It is showing in green "in progress". So there is no way I can see whether he is crunching or not. But what I see is that he has a AMD triple core with 3 Astro Pulse task. Now I do not know if he is lucky or not :-)

Hey, we all do it once in a while. I should have put a smiley on the end of that comment. (8{)

I'd say Yes, he was lucky to get 3 APs. But they do take a while to run, even on the fastest machines.

And he MAY even be done with the WU you share, but until the Upload/Download servers come back up on Friday morning, he can't report it.
