OK, so they chose (3) - their call (actually, probably his call). But if you do that, I think you have a duty to recall as many troops as possible from leave, equip them with full protective suiting and a loud-hailer, and send them out into the jungle - er, message boards. It's the - I think it's fair to say hypocritical - failure to communicate which is inexcusable.

Amen, Brother...

"What we have here is a failure to communicate"

(Guess what movie that is from - hint - it's named after a Federal Agency)

There is a federal agency called "Cool Hand Luke"?

My bad - for some reason, I was thinking of "Hud".

You know.. when I retired after 32 years..

I told my boss and explained why I could not do all of what they had given me.

We got along fine, so it was entirely non hostile... but he said

"You have to do this."

I said "no, I do not"

he said "no, you do not understand, you have to"

I said "No, you do not understand. No I do not"

He was telling me to make bricks without straws.

So I told him to build pyramids without bricks.

So.... How about it SETI, can we have some straw now?

And so I try to tell stories without understanding. Building without bricks.
Bricks can be waapons ......as can words.

Over the past week or so it is NOT the sound of a riot! The crashes being heard are the days of finished WUs failing to upload. The Loud popping noises are not gunshots but rather days of Reporting WUs failing. The grinding noises are the failing task lists followed by the loud squeaks are incomplete task lists. The wailing in the background is users waiting for work. Such is the cacaphony for the past week! The dull thuds we hear now are the finished WUs dropping into the Pending dumper.
When the honchos implement changes without notice we can expect the sounds of riot when they don't work.
Too bad the workers have to catch the flack and try to turn the volume down.

Many straws, few bricks.

In just a couple of weeks I shall be at this for 10 years.
10 long years.

And I have shared my troubles and tribulations about such here often lately.

I have tugged on your heartstrings and your nerves often enough, haven't I?
I guess some would label me scitzo. Some might call me something else.

I don't care really what you call me.

Mark or Kittyman works for me.

If you have some other terms.....bring it on, bring it on.

Now should I cut? Holy shit, doc.

Never mind, I saw in another post that you have a couple rigs started back up.

You might want to see if you can get some work now. I have gotten a bunch, but most of them have been shorties.

I have work. Last friday everything rated itself at about 5 minutes coming in.
Most changed to 1-2 hours. Just no clue how well it is going, and having made some major system changes over the last week... I have no clue until they soft the credit meters out how it is going. So lots of crunching, lots of pending, nothing completed.

And no clue whether or not I will still keep the 2nd computer online. It is a fine balance between productive and useable for other things. And that has been almost impossible to figure out for about a week now.

Am I getting errors/invalids with the new parameters? no idea. Are both GPU's earning their keep? Again, no idea. Will I put up with this much longer?
I do not know.

I have a lot of patience. It is worn thin.

Well, by now, they know how to idle pretty well.
