As the title says. I looked at several threads and they have not changed, the threads and posts remain with the same read and not read flags that they had before.

Edit: Even my post shows as not read to me.

I think that has to do with the "Database Error" message above the Author column.

Thanks, I hadn't noticed that. Something is definitely amiss.

even before this, I noticed that FF required me to spend more than 20-30 seconds viewing a thread before it took the unviewed tag off. Though posting as I did just now would always dump the tag. this isnt happening now. good to know they are on the job.

In IE it seems to be a function of how much of the thread has loaded (at least it was before yesterday). Currently however long you leave it, the flag is not set.

I clicked the "mark all read" after I finished reading the new ones. I'll see what that does for me in the long run.

It looks like this problem also involves the PM system. I have a PM alert that won't go away even after I've deleted it

Wow. This is annoying & confusing at the same time, as I keep reading the same thread posts over and over. :S

Yup. Thankfully I met some nice ladies today, so I'm looking forward to the replay.

Message 973754 - Posted: 25 Feb 2010, 14:49:32 UTC

When I view a long thread like '10-year club', it starts to load as normal. Then, as it reaches 100%, everything shifts down a line, and 'Database error' pops into the vacated space above the message list.

I think that's the point at which the BOINC message board software deems a thread to have been 'read', and makes a note in the user database of what's been read and what hasn't. I guess that the 'Database error' indicates that the web server has lost the ability to write into that bit of the database.

Any web designers/coders able to elucidate further?

I see that in shorter threads as well. Before I thought the "Database error above the author column" was referring to the message boards view not the thread view. I just noticed when typing this message that "Database Error" is displayed above the messages table as well.
It seems like it might be a permission issue. That users are not able to update the database to mark the new messages as read when they are viewing them. However, this function is working though the "mark all read" button. Which may be taking a different route to preform the function.

I've also just found that I am unable to delete messages in the PM inbox. I guess the message board DB just got a bit frazzeled.

Sure does. But now I don't have an endless supply of new messages to read.
Oh well, I'll adapt.
