I am receiving errors for Astropulse v505 v5.06 projects. I am curious as to why. Any help would be appreciated. Specs on the machine: Sony Viao VGN-N230E X-Ubuntu 9.1 w/ all updates(dual boot XPSP3) Xfce 4 Truecrypt/Gimp bootloader Bionc 6.4.5 (linux) 1.8ghz Duo Core 2 gigs of ram Log File 1503640022 566837635 2 Feb 2010 14:23:37 UTC 5 Apr 2010 12:42:17 UTC In progress --- --- --- --- SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1503544373 566794241 2 Feb 2010 12:21:18 UTC 11 Mar 2010 17:33:48 UTC In progress --- --- --- --- SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1503159087 566628752 2 Feb 2010 5:27:47 UTC 20 Mar 2010 17:34:27 UTC In progress --- --- --- --- SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1502907269 566515634 2 Feb 2010 1:05:02 UTC 2 Feb 2010 12:21:18 UTC Completed, validation inconclusive 0.00 9,532.96 28.28 pending SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1502907153 566515601 2 Feb 2010 1:05:02 UTC 2 Feb 2010 12:21:18 UTC Completed, waiting for validation 0.00 8,444.43 28.28 pending SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1502814697 543455452 1 Feb 2010 23:33:17 UTC 22 Mar 2010 23:51:14 UTC In progress --- --- --- --- SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1502382130 566280146 1 Feb 2010 16:22:21 UTC 2 Feb 2010 1:05:02 UTC Error while computing 0.00 4,748.58 18.33 --- Astropulse v505 v5.06 1502282898 566234401 1 Feb 2010 16:08:47 UTC 2 Feb 2010 5:27:47 UTC Completed and validated 0.00 8,325.33 31.75 31.74 SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1501776819 566008879 1 Feb 2010 7:17:34 UTC 2 Feb 2010 1:05:02 UTC Completed and validated 0.00 29,448.27 104.70 104.67 SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1501776674 566008663 1 Feb 2010 7:17:34 UTC 1 Feb 2010 23:33:17 UTC Completed and validated 0.00 28,975.06 104.70 104.66 SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 1501629070 565944645 1 Feb 2010 4:23:47 UTC 19 Mar 2010 16:30:27 UTC In progress --- --- --- --- SETI@home Enhanced v6.09 (cuda23) 1501592638 565927362 1 Feb 2010 2:05:43 UTC 1 Feb 2010 7:17:34 UTC Error while computing 0.00 9,656.15 40.68 --- Astropulse v505 v5.06 1501584742 565923479 1 Feb 2010 2:02:25 UTC 1 Feb 2010 7:17:34 UTC Error while computing 0.00 9,643.98 40.83 --- Astropulse v505 v5.06 [/img] |

you can find the reason for your error message "process got signal 11" Here It looks like you might have bad RAM In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

I'm not sure what else to do since this is the first you've seen the error. IF you find the error and its not covered by what is described in the BOINC FAQ, I'd give the BOINC FAQ guys a heads up since you'd have seen something that isn't currently described for the error In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. I appreciate the help. I will keep looking for an answer, it just seems to be with Astropulse. Standard Seti and Enhanced Seti are fine although I did get an inconclusive result as well. 1502907269 566515634 2 Feb 2010 1:05:02 UTC 2 Feb 2010 12:21:18 UTC Completed, validation inconclusive 0.00 9,532.96 28.28 pending SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 Any other help would be appreciated. In advance thanks to all, and another thanks to those that participate. -Wayne |

BOINC FAQ suggests the Memory problem because intense calculations can cause this problem. Astropulse WU's are much larger than the Multibeam. It appears to be a hardware problem but its hard telling what it is if its not the RAM. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

1) Update to a later boinc version. 2) You seem to be running the stock application. It had (still has?) those kind of problems. Come to http://lunatics.kwsn.net to get the optimised application. |

I'm experiencing the same problem: Dell XPS M1530 2.5Ghz Core 2 Duo, 6MB cache 4GB RAM nVidia 8600GT Gentoo Linux: kernel 2.6.31 BOINC 6.10.18 nVidia drivers 190.42 CUDA 2.2 All Astropulse operations fail. I ended up with disabling :( Plus I'm not sure if CUDA is working. When both CPU and GPU are at full power may laptop is extremely hot, but now i's just warm :/ |

if you are running seti on a laptop you'll need additional cooling devices. Laptops overheat on their own. Seti will stress them a great deal more. You have your computers hidden so I can't tell why or what Cuda is doing with your machine In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

BOINC version: 6.10.18 CPU: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz [Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6] (2 processors) GPU: --- Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-gentoo-r6 So I guess the answer is NO :P CUDA isn't working. Oh... and the heat is not a problem... even when I play games in hi-res hi-quality 3D the laptop is "very warm", can't even call it hot. Right now with the CPU running alone, the difference in heat is barely sensible. |

be assured the Seti app will stress your Laptop a great deal more than a video game. Seti runs your CPU at 100% and will create a great deal of heat In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |
