This is a story from the Washington post, a very credible news agency. The story is about the SETI Institute and changing public attitude to SETI style searches. Its a very relevant story;

Good link Johnney.
I'm pretty hopeful that this WILL be the decade
that incontrovertible evidence will be obtained to prove the existence of intelligent Extraterrestrial life once and for all.
Computer power has grown to the factor that is required for the huge number crunching needed and the Allen telescope array will continue to grow.
I have 2 pc's running 24/7 on seti@home and I'm currently upgrading both to increase my humble contribution.
I know ETI's are there, it's utter lunacy to suggest otherwise,
given the size of the cosmos,
we just have to proove it to the masses.
But we do need a little luck,
to be looking in the right place at the right time.

As I wrote in another thread with an almost identical title no mention is made of SETI@home nor of the fact that the operation of the ATA is supported by the US Air Force obviously using public money. There will be a conference at the Royal Society in London where dr. Frank Drake will speak of SETI, not of SETI@home, which is a social phenomenon before being a scientific enterprise .
