OK, so after giving up with the PSU, I sent it back to Overclockers. Somehow it got 'lost in the post'. They insist they did not receive it, and silly me, I did not send 'it signed for.

So, I bit the bullet, learned the lesson and bought a new PSU - a Corsair 850W job. Installed and solid with reasonable safe OC on both CPU and GPU. 3 days soak with CUDA on full and no problems so for.

Case closed I think.
