From the little I follow in the news about UFOs, even I have heard that there are 'hot spots' where there is a lot of UFO activity. Given the recurring nature of these sitings it seems that, theoretically, the chance of receiving signals would be higher in these areas than in searching the whole of space. I suspect that the high speeds these UFOs are reported as clocking would put them well out of SETI's mandate, but does anyone know if there are similar scientifically-endorsed projects attempting to receive signals in these areas?

The "Hot Spots" that you refer to are on Earth and refer to UFO's. SETI does not necessarily imply looking for UFO's; but rather listening for signs of intelligent life either by eaves dropping on spurious or intended emissions such as Radar, television etc or a beamed beacon with some type of "we are here " message. The UFO's are terrestial while Seti searches the sky for signs of extraterrestial life.

There are at least two known reports, both from the U.S. military, of radio signals detected near large UFOs. The signals were in the range of 2800 to 3000 MegaHertz (2.8 to 3.0 GigaHertz). Anyone with radio equipment capable of receiving these frequencies might try monitoring in this range, if interested, and see what they can turn up. Michael

If your radio reciever is very good you might hear your local TV stations audio band.

I think these hot spots are along the lines of phonyness. The ones that concern me are NASA shots not only in space but also at launch site. Most all of our space exploration seems to be monitored. Strange craft unknown objects doing impossible manuvers at very high speeds and change directions in orbits at will.
Most are unfocused lights at a distance hard to make out even with a telescope. The one photos that I can buy cast the same shadows in the same direction as the ground. Seen one video in south africa that was either a very good photoshop video it showed a saucer type craft maybe 50 deet in diameter go ahead of the veiwer takeing the video then turns around and comes directly over the photgopher cast shadows over the road and on surrounding trees. Ever noticed at these hot spots its always the same people with photos of some object and they are the only ones that have the photos. The Breezeport sightings are a fine example and these claimed sightings can make money for the photographer.
Ive seen NASA shots that continue to this day Atlantis have a report that was filed as a UFO that come out of no where and approches the spacecraft and comes to 6000 yards of the orbiter. Then this spacecraft reverses it direction back the way it came thats not in orbital mechanics at 17000 mph. If you could produce a shot with someone standing beside the saucer with a measureing tape. Saying it this high and this much in circumference and hers a shot inside underneath and maybe a shot of a power unit of some sort then no one could deny that "YES" this is a UFO. I dont have any idea why this has never been done by civilains or military of the world. Wouldnt you want to produce this to the world and say its confirmed. As of now there isnt any concrete proof they exist. The NASA shots concern me because this is our leading edge in space and someone is flying a craft at orbital speeds and observeing or in the vicinity of a spacecraft of the earth.

I used to believe they were real until I studied up on it and realized the distance between stars would make thousands of sightings not possible. Perhaps one is real but who knows.
