The one I am thinking of contains nuts. I will just have to dig out the recipe.
Mine are considered a Muebeteig cookie, not sure what the english word for that is. It also contains Vanillezucker, not sure where to find that here. I always bring some with me, but forgot on this trip.

Shortcrust pastry is the entry to where the German wikipedia entry for "Mürbeteig" links.

Thanks Gundolf, but mine relates to a type of cookie. I will just have to find the recipe.

Let's see... game snacks.
Hot verdant green spinach balls with golden honey-mustard dip - check!

Green hot artichoke and chili pepper dip with golden tortilla chips - check!
Green and gold fruit kebabs - kiwis, grapes, pineapple - check!

Dinner
bratwurst with mustard and onions(If Wisconsin were a country, that would be its national dish.)

Dessert

Oh, and beer. Lots and lots of beer. That's golden!!! Gosh I love a theme...

Just made a sandwich that would melt Eric's heart.......or at least bring it to a slow halt.

3 slabs of brick cheese (does this exist anywhere but Wisconsin??)
Two slices of Brownberry Whole Grain Oat bread.........

This is the best bread made on our planet. If you can't get it locally, I will arrange a shipment.

Miracle Whip........and the topping.....horseradish.

Meeeeeeeee woow..........

Brick cheese is a special treat when you can get it......even here in Wisconsin....
The bread is wonderful........I don't know how far their distribution goes........It will cost me a few bucks a loaf to ship, but WTF?

Miracle whip should be available anywhere.

As to the horseradish.......dunno if that is a local delicasy, or smurfing up noses worldwide. Once you've sniffed it, there is no turning back.

Meooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooos, Bite.....munch...sniffle. sniggle....giggle.

This is the stuff that makes the Packers march.

Cheese and horseradish.

horse radish is the nasty stuff you push away from the prime rib.

For Cheese.. well other states have other kinds of cheese than just cheddar ;)
Most comes in blocks, some in wheels.. some in tubs.

Mix in a little sour cream and you have the perfect compliment for prime rib.

I thought you put green dye in it and called it Wasabi.

I had to laugh many years ago.......

We were at a restaurant well known for it's prime rib dinners.

So there we sit, about 10 of us......and we hear this guy at the next table saying.......man, this beef is f'ing raw..........
He asked the waitress to take it back to the chef.

Our laughter at the next table caused the man to leave without dinner.......LOL.

some people prefer the meat not still mooing.

Anyway.. a couple of cooking tips on WHY people use things...

Tomato: True it has a good and unique flavor, but it is not always the main reason to use it.. for the same reason as:

Onion: also a unique flavor. But it has a more important property.

Both of these help.. break apart meats. So if you have onion and/or tomato
in with a roast, crockpot, stew, or many other places, the meat will flake apart and be softer and easier to digest.

Two other ingredients can add a bit of a distinct mmm... I should know what that is but I can not quite place it.. especially in a sauce..

White pepper.. gives just a bit of slightly spicy tang, not too hot, not full
hard pepper flavor, no where near as spicy as red pepper..

Vanilla. Just a bit for a special little something to sweet things.. toss a bit in pancakes/waffles/etc.

ahh well. Just ramblings from someone that probably should be cooking.

Mmmmmmmm! Asparagus season out here!!! I like the big fat ones. I find them to be far more flavorful and less fibrous than those nasty easily over-cooked pencil thin ones. We had some giant asparagus with dinner tonight. Delish!!!

So... let's talk asparagus! Do you like them thick or thin and why?
