Tina Maze took the World Championship gold in combination - her third medal in this year's competition.
Austrian Nicole Hosp and Michaela Kirchgasser took silver and bronze.
Lindsey Vonn failed miserably in the combination. She was no better than seventh place after the downhill race and drove out early in the slalom.

Tina has two gold and one silver medal, but she will gain more medals in the slaloms.Anna Fenninger is fourth, Lara Gut is fifth. Brava Tina. Her personal team is mostly Italian.

There were articles on Tina both in the NYTimes and La Repubblica. She says in spring she will decide whether to ski again or to take her laurea in pedagogy. Her team is made up from 3 Italians and two Slovene and they travel in a camper, like Bode Miller.

Giant Slalom Vail

Gold: Anna Fenninger Austria.
In the middle of the second run, she was very close to crossing skis and got a stop that could have gone really bad.

Silver: Viktoria Rebensburg Germany

Bronze: Jessica Lindell-Vikarby Sweden 9 hundreds of a second behind Rebensburg :)

Tina Maze was "only" seventh place.
I didnt see her doing some mistakes.

Anna is the best skier. Giulio de Chiesa, former slalom champion, who is now a TV commentator admires her very much.

In the meantime ski legends are in Vail to prove that they’ve still “got it.”

Giant slalom result;
1 Ted Ligety, for the third time in a row of world championships
2 Marcel Hirscher
3 Alexis Pinturault

Roberto Nani was second in the first stage after Hirscher and ended sixth. Florian Eisath rose from place 18 to 8. Bravo.

It's seems that Italia has bad luck this year.

They seem not to like the American snow, which is natural and not treated with water like in the European races. But a good skier should ski on any snow.

Yes. Commentators (Anja Pärsson) talked about that.
And it was very warm in Vail last day. +12 C at that bottom.
Most racers lost time there.

btw. One of the skiers was breathing oxygen just before start.
It's ok by the FIS rules but it makes you thinking.

Beaver Creek has an elevation of 3400 meters. It puts a load on skiers and climbers. My record is 4014 meters on the Dente del Gigante.

Da vero? The Giant Tooth in Monte Bianco.
I dont think you would ski from there but climbing that is a feat.

I remember a 40 meters cliff with a fixed rope. The video shows one of the two peaks of the Dente filmed from the other. Not difficult but the elevation takes its toll.

No, rock was clean in 1963. But the Marmolada glacier in 1960 (3330 meters) when I climbed it was reduced to a half in 2003 when I saw it.

I have seen images of places that I had
visited in the 1960s in Switzerland, where
most of all the ice has now gone. I see
it is the same in your country. I'd love
take LSM to see it all some day herself.
