Probably bad concrete, contrarily to the Roman concrete which still stands because it used seawater.I have seen a Roman aqueduct near Trieste, still perfect.

The Romans also used volcanic ash.
The material was called pozzolana from the town of Pozzuoli, west of Naples where volcanic ash was extracted.
In the absence of pozzolanic ash, the Romans used powdered brick or pottery as a substitute and they may have used crushed tiles for this purpose before discovering natural sources near Rome.[2] The huge dome of the Pantheon in Rome and the massive Baths of Caracalla are examples of ancient structures made from these concretes, many of which are still standing.[7] The vast system of Roman aqueducts also made extensive use of hydraulic cement

Torre Annunziata is a town near Naples and Vesuvius so one thought that constructors had that in mind when building there.

The average speed was 41 km/hour. Arnaud Demare, French champion, arrived after half an hour and so Marcel Kittel. The Sky team has done a lot of work to avoid losing the yellow jersey.

A new telescope has been dedicated in Chiantishire, with a 80 cm mirror. It was not been used in Torino, too much light and fog in the sky. The Chianti sky has a better seeing quality. It will be dedicated to the search of exoplanets and, with the help of Chianti wine, it may find many.

Bad luck.

Also the Giro Rosa, the Giro d'Italia for women, has its casualties. Claudia Creti,21, is in hospital in critical conditions after a fall. The Giro was won by Dutch Anna van der Breggen, Olympic champion, with Elisa Longo Borghini second. The last stage ending in Torre del Greco has been won by Megan Guarnier, USA. But nobody cares about the girls. The TV coverage is short and delayed, no sponsors.

First I thought Vesuvius has woken up.
No. It's large forest fires raging on its slopes.

Images of the fires with pictures of the volcano's most recent eruption in 1944, which destroyed three villages.
