Slalom men Yes:) André Myhrer took the first Olympic Gold medal in men's slalom since Ingemar Stenmark in 1980. And Sweden took the Olympic silver in the ladies Biathlon relay:) Sort of revenge to the failure in the mixed Biathlon relay when Sweden finished 11th! |

Kristoffersen had no competitors and managed to lose. Lindsey made a brave start. Honor to her, the oldest lady to win an Olympic medal. |

Kristoffersen had no competitors and managed to lose. Lindsey made a brave start. Honor to her, the oldest lady to win an Olympic medal. Lindsey Vonn 33, is the oldest lady in Alpine Skiing to win an Olympic medal. However Marit Björgen, Norway is 37! the oldest lady in Cross-country skiing to win an Olympic medal:) This Olympic Games in skiing has very much been a ladies games. Sweden has - so far - taken ten medals in the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, five gold and five silver. Our ladies have taken all but 2 of the medals. |

Sweden was one of the favorites for the Alpine team competition, but it ended early. Sweden lost against Austria in the quarter final. A bit embarrassing since Sweden had their best skiers racing but Austria didn't... Italy ended in the quarter final as well... |

50 km cross country Hyvä Suomi:) The event of 50km Olympic cross country skiing is classical here in our Nordic countries. It's the highlight of the Olympic Winter Games and when men are separated from boys. Hehe:) In Finland they have Sisu and Niskanen showed that spirit from start to finish! |

There is an election in Italy on Sunday and the Trolls are thriving (: Now Italian media reporting about Sweden are subjected to organized troll attacks. The newspaper La Stampa are getting a lot of hatred messages for articles about Sweden. The messages are so many that the newspaper tracked them. They found traces to servers in Lithuania and Ukraine, but that does not mean that the attacks are coming from there. - Every time I report about Sweden comes reactions. No matter what topic I am writing about, the most common reaction is about migrants. Even when we report about the new electric bus in Kista or a Swedish cultural event, Monica Perosino Foreign Affairs Correspondent at La Stampa, tells when visiting Sweden. She is one of the journalists in Italy who reports most about Sweden. The angry messages are in Italian. There are only small differences and with different signatures. After a single article about Sweden, there can be up to 300 angry messages to the newspaper's pages on social media and in email form. "The most common message is allegations that Sweden is decaying because of migration," says Perosino The magazine La Stampa regards it as organized troll attacks to create polarization, as a form of threat and a way to disturb journalists. Both in Italy and Sweden there is a vigilance now with elections this year and the risk of propaganda, false news and cyber attacks from, among other things, the Russian side. |

There is hate campaign about migrants. When one migrant commits a crime, all right wing newspapers start screaming. If the same crime is committed by an Italian, there is no fuss. A Lega Nord Leader, Salvini, who wants to send back all migrants, in a campaign meeting raised a rosary and a Gospel, to prove he was defending faith. He must not have read what Jesus said in the Sermon on the mount. Tullio |

Luckily we don't have so many defending faith here. At very least not among politicians. However there are politicians defending the so called Swedish culture in the same manners. That it's so unique it must be protected from other culture influences. Mainly muslim cultures. That's of course nonsense. Already the Vikings more than 1000 years ago traded with muslims and slavs and got culture influences. Then in the middle ages we got culture influences and immigrants that even changed our language quite a lot from Germany, Wallonia and Holland. Then in the 18th century we got culture influences that even changed our language quite a lot from France and Italy. After WWII we get culture influences from the US that even changes our language. Now we also get muslim culture influences again. Just some thoughts from the now cold Nordic country:) |

Some people should read about Leonardo Fibonacci, son of a Pisa consul in Tunisia, who imported in Italy the Arab notation for numbers and created the Fibonacci series. Also terms like algebra and algorithm derive from Arab words. Arab mathematicians were far ahead of Latin mathematicians, who learned from them in Arabic Spain. One of my colleagues in Como had a round object that he used as a paper weight. One of his ancestors had taken part in the Crusades and brought this object home. He showed it to an expert of ancient astronomy and it resulted to be one of the two spherical astrolabes known to exist. When Farah Diba, the Iranian Shah wife, organized an exhibition in London of Islamic science, the astrolabe went to London under a large insurance coverage, Tullio |

Oh. I was out eating a pizza yesterday. The pizza place are runned by people from Kurdistan and I eat there sometimes. Once I said Biji Kurdistan (Long Live Kurdistan) to the owner and he smiled a lot. But this time an Italian women came in and ordered a pizza in Italian. It turned out that the pizza owner from Kurdistan is fluent in Italian. It's a small world :) |
