OK. Fair cop. I intended to download v6.6.33 and picked up v6.6.34 by mistake. Big mistake was that upgrading Boinc has gone so smoothly recently that I have got out of the habit of making a backup and closing the network connection :( Closed down Boinc, ran the .exe and re-started Boinc. Ka-boom: the 608 .exe file and the cuda .dll's wiped and several hundred 608 tasks gone with them. I couldn't be sure whether it was down to the version so I backtracked and installed v6.6.33 (as originally intended), located copies of the missing cuda files and am now back crunching and replenishing my cache. Here is a copy of the messages just after I had started the v6.6.34: 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Starting BOINC client version 6.6.34 for windows_x86_64 04/06/2009 23:38:17 log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Data directory: J:\ProgramData\Boinc 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Running under account Fred 04/06/2009 23:38:17 SETI@home Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 04/06/2009 23:38:17 [error] App version uses nonexistent coprocessor CUDA 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Processor: 4 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 7] 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni 04/06/2009 23:38:17 OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.00.6001.00) 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 9.87 GB virtual 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Disk: 20.00 GB total, 16.41 GB free 04/06/2009 23:38:17 Local time is UTC +1 hours 04/06/2009 23:38:17 CUDA device: GeForce GTX 295 (driver version 18585, compute capability 1.3, 896MB, est. 106GFLOPS) 04/06/2009 23:38:17 CUDA device: GeForce GTX 295 (driver version 18585, compute capability 1.3, 896MB, est. 106GFLOPS) 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda ..... ..... 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] No app version for result: windows_x86_64 608 cuda 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] State file error: result 12mr09ag.20616.467666.15.8.155_1 not found for task 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] State file error: result 13mr09aa.7690.43872.13.8.187_0 not found for task 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] State file error: result 02mr09ac.6450.13978.16.8.224_0 not found for task 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home [error] State file error: result 02mr09ac.6450.13978.16.8.216_0 not found for task 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Not using a proxy 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Version change (6.6.28 -> 6.6.34) 04/06/2009 23:38:18 climateprediction.net URL: http://climateprediction.net/; Computer ID: 695349; location: home; project prefs: default 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 3452433; location: home; project prefs: home 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home Beta Test URL: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/; Computer ID: 38059; location: (none); project prefs: default 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 12-Feb-2009 22:38:35) 04/06/2009 23:38:18 SETI@home Computer location: home 04/06/2009 23:38:18 General prefs: using separate prefs for home 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Reading preferences override file 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Preferences limit memory usage when active to 3275.35MB 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 4094.18MB 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Preferences limit disk usage to 10.00GB 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Running CPU benchmarks 04/06/2009 23:38:18 Suspending computation - running CPU benchmarks 04/06/2009 23:38:38 Suspending network activity - user request 04/06/2009 23:38:50 Benchmark results: 04/06/2009 23:38:50 Number of CPUs: 4 04/06/2009 23:38:50 3609 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 04/06/2009 23:38:50 10321 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU 04/06/2009 23:38:51 SETI@home Restarting task ap_16oc08ab_B6_P0_00230_20090530_10418.wu_0 using astropulse_v5 version 503 04/06/2009 23:38:51 SETI@home Restarting task ap_02ap09ab_B1_P0_00084_20090504_21422.wu_2 using astropulse_v5 version 503 04/06/2009 23:38:51 SETI@home Restarting task 12mr09ag.20616.458668.15.8.67_0 using setiathome_enhanced version 603 04/06/2009 23:38:51 SETI@home Restarting task 12mr09ag.20616.458668.15.8.83_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 603 Note the error about a non-existent coprocessor way *before* it gets round to enumerating the GTX295. Confirmed. Big bug - found and fixed, but no re-issue yet. Bug is CUDA only - rest works OK. Might even work for stock applications - bug in is app_info department. But best advice overnight is - Avoid v6.6.34 |
