It's Tuesday, that means outage time (for database backup/compression/etc.). Today's outage was by the book, and we're recovering from that now. We're still sloooowly getting more data back up here from our archives at NERSC, though the Astropulse splitters are tearing through those pretty fast. We were also having continuing issues with loooong queries on the mysql master database. We thought we fixed that yesterday. Looks like we didn't. Dave and I poking around with that for a while.

Other than that, chipping away on NTPCkr stuff for Jeff, getting things in order for the big event on Thursday. Wow - I got exactly 48 hours from now to get my little talk straight.

In the "for what it's worth" area, from someone who routinely makes presentations for a living, I have 3 main pieces of advice:
1) Know your material
2) Speak from the heart
3) Don't read the darn slides - the audience can read for themselves - tell them what the slides mean.

You'll do fine - the first two are a given :)

Matt, I don't usually reply to the tech column, guess I'm a reader, any way, thought you needed a pat on the shoulder for Thursday, as a retired L.E.O. Executive I fully agree with the advise given from C of Team MacNN, with one additional thought, don't memorize your speech, just let your material flow and move you eyes continually through out the audience as you speak, they will be captivated by the knowledge you have. Beat Wishes.

One other thing, don't get carried away. Remember, you've got a time limit. :)

Oh, and one more thing, whatever you do, do not picture the audience naked. They will only wonder why you can't stop laughing so hard!
