This is a thread in which I, the Kittyman, will post occasional musical tidbits which I find fascinating at that point in time....

You are free to comment, join in, or just enjoy the ride.

Last weekend, I had enjoyed a number of clips by Jewel....
She seems to be a very down to earth gurl, with a wonderful voice. She did a live concert in Rialto Square back in 2006 that is currently available on DVD and has some wonderful things in it....

I'm Sensitive...Be careful with me, 'cuz I'm sensitive, and I like to stay that way.

Get Ready, Boy...I think this is a great love song...

Race Car Driver.. LOL...

Anything Goes.. Yes, she can be a little more serious and do a classic now and then too.

So enjoy...I will post from time to time whatever tickles the cockles of my little heart.

LOL......

This has a bit of background......

My GF, Lori...has a bit of a thing for fleur de'lis in her architectural designing.....

One day, we were talking about some songs she remembered.......as they were being played upon an automatic piano in her livingroom.........were the 'fleur de'lis' song.

I asked her what the song was......and she said she remembered it from her childhood as the 'fleur de'lis' song........OK.

A month or two later, I heard it........probably on youtube.......and realized that her recollection was of Fur Elise.....by Beethoven......

I still miss Belushi..........

A rare cut, not from the 'Blues Brothers' movie......

Real live cut....nice patter....a lot of folks forget or never knew that they were a real blues band, with talent to be reckoned with....
Akroyd tried to continue it, but it was never the same without John........

Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues...........

While not exactly a music vid........it is music to my ears......

The classic. The final statement..... THE car chase......

Bullit........
I drove a '67 Charger once when I was a teenager........it was everything the movie clip shows it to be. Dang.......140 mph speedo....and a little less than could be done.....estimated MPH 155.....
My '69 Buick GS400 would only do 145...........

The only other movie statement in my life would have to be...

44 magnum........Well, do ya, punk?

According to the Wikipedia........

Two 1968 390 CID V8 Ford Mustangs (325 bhp) were used for the chase scene, both owned by Ford Motor Company and part of a promotional loan agreement with Warner Bros. The Mustangs' engines, brakes and suspensions were heavily modified for the chase by veteran car racer Max Balchowsky. Ford Motor Company had also originally loaned two Galaxie sedans that were intended to be used in the chase scenes, but the producers found the cars entirely too heavy to put through jumps over the hills of San Francisco without the suspensions of the cars being severely damaged.

I had a Buick GS400 that would beat either of them......

145 MPH flat out......and a real terror getting there.

Won a lot of money in high school.......betting that I could get from zero to 100 without using the clutch........LOL.

Simple bet.......'cuz the car could do it.

Taped my left foot to the emergency brake pedal.........

Right foot on the go pedal........no brakes.

Start it in first....hard on the starter....

Once the motor cleared it's throat, it was all go..........LOL.

4 speed aluminum case Muncie tranny.....

All you had to do was hit the shift points with the Muncie, and the synchros did the rest............

Redline was about 7500 RPM.......mighty bad for a bored out small block.

It was a '69..supposedly stock..otherwise daddy would not have let me buy it....'cuz I crashed my '64 Olds..rolled it.....but somebody had played with the motor before I bought it.

I took it to high school auto tech class, and the teacher told us not to do that with motors........LOL.......not exactly stock....I seem to remember the teacher saying under his breath..WTF?....I was only 18 ....although I did not know what that meant at the time......LOL.....but I understood what WTF meant when I stepped on it......and grabbin that Hurst was like taking control of the world............

It turned out that it was a 350 small block bored until there was almost no cylinder walls left.......the teach measured it and calculated it to be about 425 cid....in a small block.....no wonder it was so snarky......
