I really wish someone would have put it in a faq or something for setting up cuda as there was a prior post that said you had to have the protected mode enabled when installing the boinc client to run on cuda, which is not the case it must be UNCHECKED Or vista will not see the cuda device or co-processor. First in safe mode I uninstalled the video drivers for the Nvidia 9600M GT, Rebooted, Installed 180.22, Installed the Cuda base kit, then the 2.1, Then the Nvidia CUDA SDK... Rebooted. Installed Boinc, Attached to my project at setiathome and whala! CUDA! Currently according to a sample test packet for Setiathome, Ive gone from aprox 8.5hrs per packet using the system cpus to right around 6min and 08seconds for a total gain of 83.88packets per 8.5hrs running under cuda using the gpu! (0.07gpu's detected? - Need more info on why its only seeing 0.07 gpus ) I cant wait until astropulse is finally cuda capable. System : HP HDX 18t Laptop Processor : Intel Quad Core 2.53ghz Ram : 4GB DDR3 Video : Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT / 1GB Drivers : 180.22 Forceware Client : boinc 6.4.7 vista x64 Working on a linux installation for cuda on the laptop as well, all seems to be going well, just wanted to give a big hats off to the cuda dev team and all the hard work in getting cuda off the ground!! <Salute!> < A Seti at home member for over 10 years > James Hamelin, KC0RSW |

Something that I have found out in trial an error, if you ever connect remotely with Remote Desktop, and happen to restart BOINC, it will stop seeing the CUDA devices. I think the remote desktop emulation interferes with it. Need to do a reboot to get CUDA back. Art |

Remote desktop uses it's own graphics drivers which are not CUDA capable. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Hi, I don't see why you would need to install the SDK (Software Development Kit) unless you want to actually develop CUDA application. This is just like with JAVA. If you only want to run JAVA applications or applets all you need is the JRE (JAVA Runtime Environment) not the SDK, although the SDK does include the JRE. For CUDA the "Runtime Environment" is part of the CUDA enabled drivers. GPUgrid has an page that describes how to get CUDA running: http://www.gpugrid.net/join.php?sys=gpu **************************************** Join with your Nvidia graphics card * Read our rules and policies (of GPUgrid) * Check compatible Nvidia graphics cards, recommended more than 50 stream processors * Download the latest Nvidia graphics driver >= 177.67 (help on installing Linux drivers) * Install the 6.4.5 GPU-enabled BOINC client: (or higher)
* For Linux x64
