Lets see ... when you get it running, try using some sprites and turtle graphics... Oh, and I have a copy of Forth on rom you might like.

I really miss my commodore 64, waiting an hour for a game to load, only to have it crash seconds before it was finished. Arguing with friends as to whether the commodore or spectrum had superior graphics/playability.

Ahhh, memories :-)

Commodore 64 the first 64 bit cpu

Mandatory!

try those steps to success

-Install SP2 and tweak the registery!
-increase swapfile (open#4,,r) on printer
-replace tcp/ip stack with your own stack
-cut the power led (cpu gain about 5%)
-use the lastest boinc version 5.17 nearly alpha release
-use the 64-bit parameter

BTW
THIS was my first Computer... (later Amigas)

Speed: use a emulation for PC and play the games from those days.

I still have a cracked copy of Geos you can have. Perhaps you might have more luck using a GUI interface

Had another thought. If I dig a little harder in the attic, I might find a copy of PetSpeed. Recompiling you basic program will increase your processing by a factor of 10.

Thanks guys for your helps !

I have successfuly connected 10 audio tape recorders in parallel
in order to create the swap, and I have increased the CPU voltage
to 75 volts in order to have more speed. I have restarted the
machine and got the commodore "black death" screen saying I was
using it at my own risk.

Now I am really fucked and I don't know what to do next.

This is a hard case.

normaly just install the boinc client and attach to project.

HM, did you define the stepping factor on the RAID ? this is normaly a bottleneck in performance.

On my side, the commodore 64 is running fine:

try to load load"boinc",8,1,,31416

(IP Port)

you are right, increase the CPU Voltage, can go til 107,983 C
Set the memory timing to 2 (=two refresh a minute), might helpes to.

Be aware, to have installed the lastest language support definitions trialout, rfc 1748

After all the fun I had with this I have a serious question.
What would you do if you find a bran new Commodore 64 in it's
original box in the attic ? Would you keep it sealed or would
you open it to have some fun ?

I would be very tempted to open it.

I really like the professional power, advanced color graphics and pro sound...

Made me wonder if the SETI@home on BOINC project is running on C64s with multiple tape recorders being used as the storage array?

SETI@home - 2004-10-06 23:00:35 - No tape recorders responded

I think it would be a matter of tape's mecanical speed and tracks
reading. Perhaps an overdrive on the electric motor and some
modifications on the reading head to read the four tracks at the
same time be enough.
