Vista limits where data can be written. 1) Please install BOINC version 6.2.19 if you do not want CUDA support or 6.4.5 if you DO want CUDA support. CUDA uses your graphics card for extra processing power - however, it is limited to just a few graphics cards, and there are many bugs with 6.4.5 as it was a bit rushed to get out. 2) The BOINC data directory should NOT be in c:\Windows, or C:\Program Files. The default location will be in c:\ProgramData, and this is OK. 3) Note that the installation options have changed. "Protected" is the same as "server" used to be, and "Graphics compatible" is the same as multi user used to be. Graphics compatible is not needed for many of the projects that have screen saver graphics as they have linked with the 6.4 libraries at this point. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

This is your problem............ 1/11/2009 10:54:43 AM||Data directory: C:\Windows\system32 Vista will not allow you to write to this directory. Reinstall using the default directory as John stated. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |
