In the meantime, the kitties pawed their way to another 3100 grains to toss into the bowl.

I stand by what I said before - Deadline is now 7 December 2008 23:59:59 - Number of reasons on my part.

I won't be able to give a final update tonight also.

Short story long:
Surfing the net whilst downloading Windows Updates for Vista on my main cruncher (on a Friday Night!), the Dell Laptop, SETI still running. Screen flickers black, mouse is moveable, no other screen UI. Just a freaking mouse that still works. Reboot. Windows Error Recovery Console. Normal System Config, loads Vista with the green bars scrolling across the screen, finishes that, no Windows Logon Screen, just black with a moveable mouse. I try Safe Mode, Safe mode w/ Networking, Safe mode w/cmd. All the same. I reboot, and run Dell Diagnostics via the BIOS, finds no faults/errors in the hardware. Contact Dell, give them my Service tag, tells me I'll be phoned at home as soon as something can formalized. I am still waiting, and guess what? It's now Saturday and Dell Technical is only open on weekdays. I am pissed.

Product has 1 yr of CompleteCover, 2 yrs of XPS Premier Service, and 3 yrs of Standard Dell Warranty.
- Luke.

Oh - BTW this is the first crash of Vista I have had since I bought my laptop. And If it comes out of this alive I will still stand right beside it. I dislike Macs just as much as I hate dislike their ads (with their smug attitudes)

OK - Laptop is fixed. Found the Vista Installation CD that came with it. Did a SysRestore to a few days ago, everything seems to be good now, not even the SETI WU's were trashed.

I'll be able to countdown tonight. 5,000 grains from me makes us at 1,072,080 grains! Nice! And 15 hours left.
