Yes, it does. Broken patches keep IT in business...

Tracked it down. No broken patch this time.

Just a DVD burner that was added after the build. Thing has history of causing problems on the IDE (PATA) bus unless it's on it's own channel. This time, it was the only PATA device in the system, but it was breaking the SATA HD's communications. Must be interrupting something fierce. Disconnected the DVD Burner and everything was back to normal.

Did you look for I/O conflicts? That may be the problem.
