Colour.

How many of you have lucid dreams (i.e. dreams where you know you are dreaming and have some control over the process?)

I have had several of those lucid dreams, dreams where I am aware of that I'm dreaming. I also have woken up some times where the dream continued, I knew for sure I was awake, but the dream went on. I have had several of those, some quite scary experiences. I won't say more about them here. Let me just say that Lilith is not my friend, neither is Thaumiel. I have had several premonitions in that state too, the moments right after I have woken up, where I "saw" things. Same in those moments just before I fall asleep, where I can consciously leave my body, it took some years of meditation practice to be able to do that.

Yep, read my previous post. When this happened to you as you were falling asleep or waking up, you had your waking conscious but were dreaming. There is nothing superstitious about it. It is simply a "timing" issue. Were you also paralyzed? I've been "out of my body" while in the state too.

For centuries, mythology has said this phenomena was caused by demons, cats sucking your breath away, etc. Modern mythology has introduced alien abduction to this e phenomena. Its is completely physical though.

I know how frightening it seems at first though.

@Free. It only happened to me once and it felt like my ex was holding me hostage with his dream. I am not sure your explanation is what it was, but I will take it. Alot less scary, then having, what I felt it was at the time.

Ever since I've been on my new allergy meds, I've had wild dreams--like Secret Agent Blurf dreams. So far I've been in a workout facility that's been taken hostag, a submarine situation...

Unreal...I'm more tired when I wake up then when I go to bed :(

Maybe being closer to your wife will help Blurf. Hug her tight and all may fix it's self.

Sleep paralysis was frightening at first, but now when it comes on unwanted it is more annoying than anything else. Its annoying because I want to get to (unconscious) sleep, but can't while paralyzed. So, I fight to snap out of it by trying to move a fingertip or toe. Those that experience(d) it, know how difficult it is just to move a fingertip. It, strangely, takes a lot of strength.

Tbe annoyance is because you struggle to get to sleep. When I have paralysis episodes, they last for hours. I'll be paralyzed, then struggle to snap out of it, twenty seconds later be paralyzed again, struggle to snap out of it, twenty seconds later be paralyzed again, etc. If I "ride it out", I'll start dreaming but still be awake. Its really weird because you can even open your eyes while dreaming. When you open your eyes, the real world mixes in with your dream. Its, basically, hallucinating except you are lucid and can control the hallucinations. It may sound fun, (and might be if you could control it completely at will), but since you don't get deep (unconscious) sleep you don't get rested.

Like I said, the main factor (for me) for bringing on paralysis is stress. Plus, even when I'm not under stress, I hardly ever sleep for more than 4 1/2 hours each night. Often, I sleep for just under 4 hours. Not out of necessity, I just got into that little sleep pattern a long time ago and find it difficult to sleep more than that.
