There are some threads where certain 'enthusiastic' 'Boincers' obliterate the text of the thread with mega-fantastic or just plain BIG graphics for their sigs. Rather than force everyone to abandon displaying all graphics, or abandon displaying all sigs: Can everyone please limit the size of their sigs to something reasonable such as the equivalent to 5 text lines? Or even, should some limits be imposed by the forum display code? Any other's comments on the various BIG sigs? AMEN to that!!!! :) [edit]Sorry for jumping ahead, Mark. I think that yours is about as big as they should be. Any more is overkill. (just my opine of course) Only a couple of them really irk me. :P [/edit] Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

No. They take up a full half of the vertical display area of my browser. That makes for a lot of page scrolling... The first improvement could be to place your two graphics side-by-side. The main problem comes for anyone whom contributes to many projects and then lists them all. Perhaps, for each forum, just list the scores/RAC for whatever project(s) for that forum and then the total for all others on ONE line, and then the grand total? Unfortunately, there are far far worse than the one example for this thread so far. I never had anybody complain about mine.......just my Boincstats and a plug for Seti city..... But I have seen some that take up half a page or more....... Its a waste of time complaining... When sigs get too annoying I just turn them off. @ msattler...I do like the dingo head on yours though. |

Its a waste of time complaining... When sigs get too annoying I just turn them off. The little kitty popping out from behind my Seti City banner, (and the Seti City banner itself) were both created by and are supported on the servers of our fellow friend Scarwcrow of Blue Northern Software. He created them both for me shortly after I founded Seti City. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Its a waste of time complaining... When sigs get too annoying I just turn them off. There are 3 different kitties that pop out........an orange one, a white one, and a black one.....at random intervals depending on when you connect. You could PM Scarecrow if you want a calico......LOL. His first try was not large enough for me, and I asked if he could make the kitty a little larger, which he did. How about mine.... you have a problem with it? I try to keep mine manageable... but it does tend to get bigger than I like. It does not seem to take up more vertical page space than some others.......I think you are OK..... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

How about mine? I crunch for 11 projects and so I put mine in a banner graphic. Just takes a few lines of space. What you do today you will have to live with tonight |

My opinion on the sig sizes shown so far: Luke: graphic size on the limit, the extra lines of text make it too big; msattler: ok-ish if the graphics were side by side to reduce the vertical height, still a bit big (or just too wide to fit?); Stealth Eagle: also on the limit. From these examples, it looks like I'll be turning he sigs off oncemore. They simply take up far too much screen space. Nearly as anoying as advertising pop-ups. Hence, your glorious sigs don't get seen at all. Note that not everyone has 4096 x 2048 mega-displays. Note also that the sig space is limited to just 250 characters or so. For good reasons. So... I completely turn off all sigs or all graphics. Or, perhaps we need a forums option to scale or delete large sigs... There are some threads where certain 'enthusiastic' 'Boincers' obliterate the text of the thread with mega-fantastic or just plain BIG graphics for their sigs. [sarcasm]No, say it isn't SO! People will waste resources and not agree with you, Martin?? I'm shocked! Oh hey, I know, get Kyoto going...oh wait, that failed too. Ummmm, how about some sparkly graphics in .sigs--nah, that's a waste of bandwidth and resources too. Hmmmm. What a dilemma.[/sarcasm] Just turn off .sigs and pics in your forum preferences. Threads load substantially faster, less stress on the servers, and an unbelievable amount of idiocy disappears. "Here's a rock in my back yard. This is the rock next to it.
