Rollback

Based on the novel by Robert J. Sawyer - and being unable to choose an already existing team - I've decided to create a team... haha, well, that's the reason of this board right ?

In the novel, Sarah Halifax has decoded the first alien transmission received by SETI... but throught the story, she express how SETI is a long-term project, because who knows if we ever get a transmission from another star! Even if we do, let's imagine we received a message from a star 20 light-years away : if we're lucky, it will be in English so we can reply in a matter of days! Great, they'll receive it in another 20 years and if they again reply back, we'll receive it in 40 years! Now, what if they only have a 10 human-years lifespan...

That is what is so beautiful about SETI : we have to consider beyond our own death! We have to consider for our children, and their children... we have to make sure the Earth will still be suitable for living if we ever receive a voicemail from our possible neighbors, it would be just lame if nobody's there to turn on ther radio (you get my point ?)

So here it is : a team without boundaries, for those who have faith in what we call humanity... you're all invited!

Frankly, I have no idea what I just did : what is the responsability of creating a SETI team ? I don't even know what I can do with it! But I will see the day when this team goes even beyond SETI, just watch! :o)
