there are many threads over in Q&A. It seems that something may have been accidentally broken with the impending rollout of Astropulse. Remember it's only about 6:30 am PT right now so give it a few hours.... Folks at Berkeley aren't in yet.

Howdy

I am running Boinc 5.10.45 on a 24" Intel iMac, and I get a message from SETI that "SETI@home Enhanced is not available for your type of computer". Any advice?

We're working on this - a new scheduler was employed yesterday with an apparent bug. It would be difficult to fall back, so we're trying to fix. More details/news later, probably on front page and/or tech news.

I just did the scouring through logs and found that *some* Macs (if not all Macs requesting work when work is available) are getting work - both powerpc and intel.

More information will be useful, if this is indeed a problem.

Just a quick peek at michaelmastro's systems and I see the Intel based MAC has no tasks that it hasn't completed even though it connected earlier today. Could this help?

Wonder if they also need to stop and restart Boinc?

Same messages here:

"SETI@home Enhanced is not available for your type of computer."

Funny, but it was yesterday ...

Been getting the message since before the system maintenance today. No new work units since yesterday. The server's glad to TAKE them, but it's got them all now and won't let my machine download anything new.

MacBook Pro
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz
[x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11]
Darwin 9.2.2
OSX 10.5.2

As for the "try restarting the application ..." I don't think it's a problem with the local application. It seems to be running just fine (and restart didn't make any difference - still getting the same message from the server).

Neither of those are running the optimized app though. Looks like everyone who has posted in the thread are not running it. That might be the common thread right there.

This post is the link to the Mac optimized apps.

I've never gotten this message before... In fact, I've hardly ever gotten an error message in red... ;)

All I can offer is perhaps a more complete picture. I have two computers, one an Intel Mac and one a PC running XP2. The PC has been getting some Astropulse and some S@H Enhanced 6.02. Until about 3 days ago, the Mac has betting getting a lot of S@H Enhanced 5.28 and S@H Enhanced 6.00.

The answer for me was to use AK V8. Fine on both Mac Pro & MacBook Pro.

Link.

Make sure to choose right processor.

Whatever the problem was, it's apparently been fixed. After two days with no new work units on my Intel Mac because "SETI@home Enhanced is not available for your type of computer," I was able to get three new workunits this evening with a manual update.

They are using the old scheduler again.

Matt says they found the bug and will bring the new scheduler online again next week.
