Well, well, well...

Zazo doesn't appear to be hissing at Ollie anymore.... they just walk past each other....

Ollie is still a bit timid of the lounge and dining room... and the other small rooms of the house... and still feels most comfortable in my bedroom and the Study...

I'll keep you updated...

Luke.

Kitties deserve better than this:

BBC NEWS
Workmen save rubbish tip kittens

Two kittens about to be crushed by a rubbish compactor at a tip were saved when workmen heard them mewing.

The pair had been dumped into a bin collected on Tuesday from St Neots, in Cambridgeshire, and taken to the tip in Brampton before they were rescued.

The kittens, left in a Waitrose carrier bag, are now recovering at the Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester and have been named Rose and Carrie.

They are yet to open their eyes and are thought to be two or three days old.

Polly Underwood, from the shelter, said: "They were just going into the rubbish compactor when the workmen heard the mewing.

"They stopped the machine, rustled through the rubbish and found the two kittens in a carrier bag."

Jo Webb, of the cat section at the shelter, said: "These kittens have been through such a traumatic experience.

"We would urge anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to contact a shelter like Wood Green, as opposed to just dumping their animals."

The kittens are receiving round-the-clock care from staff at Wood Green.

A sincere thank you to my friend Andy Worth for making a donation of $40.00 to my local kitty shelter. It is so much appreciated that you would help out kitties so far from you...The Fox Valley Humane Association.
But if you look at the pics I posted last night, you will know that it was worth it....

The kitties and I are both pleased and grateful to give a sincere Thank You to Angela, Eric, White-Cat and Cyndi for making a donation to help out the kitties at the Fox Valley Humane Association.

The help coming from those who are far away from me and the shelter has been most heartwarming.

Mark,
Please believe me when I say I wish I could donate to your cause. It is a very noble and worthwhile cause indeed. However I just had to give up a litter of puppies myself because they were growing up and it became too expensive for us to feed them on a limited income. (Not to mention the repair costs to my telephone and other cables they seemed to enjoy eating! hehe They actually ate the cables to a pair of very expensive oscilloscope probes that I haven't been able to afford to replace yet!)

I'm just like several others here who can't stand to see any animal caged up, especially a cute furry kitty! Cats (and other animals too) should be able to roam free (within limits, of course). It's not natural for them to be cooped up in a cage. They are born explorers and hunters! The happiest any of our cats has been is when he/she comes in from the fields with a mouse they had just caught and gives it to one of their kittens! We even had one cat that brought in a ground squirrel and gave it to a small puppy that we had!

These shelters are doing a wonderful service to the animals by trying to find good homes for them instead of having them destroyed. That just breaks my heart to know that thousands of animals a day are needlessly destroyed, when there are people starving for the affection that one of these animals can give.

I will pray for your shelter, and all the shelters around the world like it.

Jim

My kitties learned that Human is not to fond of them bringing live mice into the house. Now they bring me earthworms, almonds and other assorted small items.
I am sure the kitties all over the world appreciated your prayer, Jim.

Jim....
Your kind words and prayers are more than enough if that's what you can afford or wish to give. They are both very much appreciated by me.

If more people thought that way and had their cats spayed or neutered maybe one day the shelters would have too many cages instead of too many cats.

Until then, I can only do what I can myself, and ask my friends to do what they can as well. If they can donate a little to help out those who do their best to take care of these creatures, it is a great thing that they do.

And if what they wish to give is kind thoughts and prayers, that is a wonderful thing too.

I sent an email to the shelter linking them to this thread and got a response from them today....

"Hi,
Cute photos of all the cats! Very nice ones of the shelter as well.
Thank you so much for thinking of the cats here at the shelter. We all
appreciate your kindness."
