LOL....get some rest...I'm 'bout to retire with the kitties for the night as well.... Don't get too frustrated if it takes Ollie some time to settle in... Lori's Starbucks is just now starting to settle into the routine and sleep at night with her and the other kitties..... It will be worth it. Take care my friend. When Ziggy moved in, he was allowed only in my son's room with his pappy. No doggies for a few days. Then we opened the room, with him safely in a kitty cage, they became friends. Did the same for Contessa the stink (don't ask) in my room. Just a matter of how you respect them, because they will give you 150% more. Just MHO. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Thanks, I need a time to relax. but he seems more settled in today, 26 hours since he was introduced.... When Ziggy moved in, he was allowed only in my son's room with his pappy. No doggies for a few days. Then we opened the room, with him safely in a kitty cage, they became friends. Did the same for Contessa the stink (don't ask) in my room. Thanks uli, He now seems comfortable around Sonar, he tried to walk in before, I let him, no Zazo though. He also seems happy in the study, and my bedroom. So he's a dual kitty now. Just munching away on some "Hill's Premium" kibble currently... Luke. - Luke. |

congrats Luke- 3 is definitely a magical number with the kitties. Sunshine is 3, Nieca is 2, and Athena is just over 1 years old- and all of them are still hyper as kittens. Although, I do have to say that I'm impressed how they (coughs- nieca) don't destroy their toys like they used to. He who trims himself to suit others soon whittles himself away. - Raymond Hull |

But the bad news continues..........from the local paper..... "GREENVILLE  In less than an hour Tuesday morning, 30 cats were dropped off at the Fox Valley Humane Association. In Oshkosh, the animal shelter took in 10 cats between noon and 4:30 p.m., bringing its total to 163. Both shelters report they are well beyond their capacity, and they can't send the animals anywhere else because the other shelters are full with cats, too. The humane association managers are blunt about it: A number of these cats are probably going to die. "Now we're being forced to euthanize adoptable cats," FVHA executive director Deb Lewis said. There are more than 260 cats in the Greenville shelter right now and another 40 litters of kittens in foster homes. "That's so sad. That's so wrong. If the public would take care of their cats, spay and neuter, we wouldn't be in the position." Cats, which breed between spring and fall, flood shelters every year at this time, says Joni Geiger, Oshkosh Area Humane Society executive director. "We call it 'kitten season,'" Geiger said. "It's so incredibly frustrating because of the fact you get seven, or eight, or 12 cats a day and you do two adoptions." This year seems particularly bad, though, Geiger said, noting that she thinks the economy plays a factor in the latest surge. In late June, authorities removed 175 cats from a home in Fond du Lac and those cats have strained the shelter system beyond its limit. Both FVHA and Oshkosh are "open shelters," meaning they take any animal someone brings in. But being the good guy also means being the bad guy. "The other shelters are referring them to us," Lewis said. "'Go to Fox Valley, they will accept anything,' but then we have to euthanize." Spaying and neutering are the long-term solutions to "kitten season," Lewis said, but in the short term it would help if anyone who is planning to surrender a cat can try to hold onto it until the shelter passes the current crisis. The Greenville shelter only has enough cat food to last through the week." Having to put down adoptable kitties is a very sad place to be......... It just breaks my heart...how could you even???? I am going to drop off about 400 pounds of kitty food today .....really.....Lori thinks I am nuts, but hey...... It's for the kitties...... If any of you out in Setiland could possibly see your way to help out the kitties in my neighborhood, I think God would truly bless you.... Here is the link....Fox Valley Humane Association.... Well, we did our bit. We spayed a stray cat. She already had one litter that we think an owl got. We can't take her in as we already have one cat. And I'm allergic to cats, but we can't very well get rid of our old Mittens. She's already adopted my son ages ago. She's pretty sick & old & can't get around like she used to. Account frozen... |

It's those who don't do a damned thing that are the problem.........those who are not responsible enough to care for the cats that they have and just keep perpetuating the problem.... The problem is NOT cats....it is the PEOPLE. PLEASE help if you can folks....Fox Valley Humane Association..... My 400 pounds of kitty food will only help so much.............. Mongo isn't fixed ( yet ), but she will be as soon as I get past this month's bills. Even when I do get her fixed, she'll still be a strictly in the house cat. Too many things out there that could snatch her up. Air Cold, the blade stops; from silent stone, Death is preordained Calm Chaos Forums : Everyone Welcome |

Mongo isn't fixed ( yet ), but she will be as soon as I get past this month's bills. Mongo used to be a " free range kitty " ( good way of putting that by the way ) when she was at my brother's house. Unfortunately, my brother found out that his daughter is allergic to cats, which meant that Mongo had to be outside. I took her in and keep her in the house now. She still has a little of the paranoia from being outside after a year or so of indoor living, but she's slowly coming around to being a lap cat instead of a proximity cat. :-) Air Cold, the blade stops; from silent stone, Death is preordained Calm Chaos Forums : Everyone Welcome |

That's purely insane. So what?! at least 250 kitties in all the shelters...!??? Luckily, I know my cat's are neutered. Dropped of a bag of "Hill's Science Diet" kibble and litter to the Wellington Shelter yesterday. 8 cats they have. 6 at the Kapiti Shelter. Wellington Shelter has a carrying capacity of 50 cats.... Kapiti has a capacity of 40... my my my... I can't express my emotion into words for those 250 kitties in Mark's region/state. Just "Oh my gosh." Luke. - Luke. |
