With just a wildcard search on the internet, I found a few sites that have the information needed to convert the old C-Channel Satellite Dishes into Radio Telescopes.

I also noted that NASA has a school program for students to build radio telescopes and provides the software for the signal processing.

This brings up the question, with the number of amateur radio astronomers out there, could these home built systems be used as some sort of phased array network?

If so, then could the SETI and SETI at home projects utilize the added telescope capabilities?

Hi Jeff, this sounds quite interesting to me.
It would be something like the ATA project, but for, let´s say, "undergraduated" (what I mean is simple average people not directly occupied with Physics issues) enthusiasts for SETI.
Something like the laboratory practice you have to acquire/perform when studying at University for your Science degree.
I have seen already home based weather stations sets that are easy to operate, with included management software, to keep records and assess statistics and so on.
With the right software everything might be possible.
Cheers!
