I found my BOINC (v5.10.45 / WinXP SP2) is contacting Google

boinc.exe:3748 TCP yyyyy.yyyyy.yyyy:3641 fx-in-f99.google.com:http CLOSE_WAIT
boinc.exe:3748 TCP yyyyy.yyyyy.yyyy:3642 fx-in-f103.google.com:http CLOSE_WAIT

What is the purpose of this connection?
In general CLOSE_WAIT means that BOINC established the connection and now the server waits the line to be shut down - right? If I am right, what was the reason for BOINC doing that?
Since HTTP-traffic is passed through most router firewalls without filtering and since it is easy to tunnel everthing through HTTP I am a little curious about this.

During normal communication session (WU up/download) BOINC connects to

boinc.exe:3748 TCP yyyyy.yyyyy.yyyy:1497 setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu:http ESTABLISHED

which is of course OK

BTW - SETI is the only project I am running.

Since I didn't know whether someone from US is anwering this, I choose to write in English. But you can answer me in German as well!

best regards from München

Hi Tom,

Tja - keine weiteren Fragen ;-)

Ein schönes Wochenende

Hallo Tom !

Happy crunchin`
