No, but unless you can do all units in average of under 15 mins you don't need to. You have probably been trying to fill your cache too quickly, keep connected and don't reset or detach and you will get more than enough over the next few days.

Wrong.... "Tomorrow" for daily quotas is based on Berkeley time 07:00 UTC.

Believe me... I've waited up 'til 02:00 Houston time to DL more work.

No offense who but you are not returning 800 units a day so what difference does it make?

after doing the counting, my buffer was almost empty this morning, I reinstalled BOINC, and the buffer is trying to get back on track, this caused to load 800 workload today, I don t need that much in average. JDWhale pointed out this morning that my buffer was running low.

Based on the 1hr units you are getting at the moment, you should be doing about 100WU/day in total for 8 cores, but if you get into a heap of shorties that could be done in as little as 15 mins, then you might need 400/day. If your buffer is low then you should be able to double it each day (worst case) or d/l 3 extra days work per day, in real terms, to help get it back to normal.

Your skulltrail is darn quick in total, but on a per core basis there are others that are quicker out there. I do believe that the 100 WU/core limit should be looked at to see if it is being given the nudge by some of the faster PC's out there, with the idea of a 50% to 100% rise to be considered in the future.

Francois, so you fill the cache then let it run dry?

That makes a little more sense now.

I'm not sure what is going on with the Phased Quaddy right now either......
I think Boinc is kinda messed up right now.........
After a couple of bad crashes......reinstalling Boinc, reinstalling Crunch3r's client......
Boinc shows only about 15 WUs left to crunch.......waiting for another half an hour to get another 400 WUs worth of quota....
But if I go into the setiathome.berkeley.edu folder, it is chock full of WUs.....but Boinc apparently has lost track of them and can't see them or crunch them......
Don't know if they will clear out on their own or if there is some way to get Boinc to see them......wish that resend WU feature was still switched on, I might be able to get them back........

EDIT.....
I suppose the best thing to do at this point is to manually detach and reattach.......thereby releasing the captive WUs into the ether mist to be reissued by the Boinc servers.......

I noted that I had a different ammount on a couple of my slower PC's (Laptop & Vixen in the shed) and about a week later the number caught up to within a couple of what was on the PC. I assumed I had lost them while downloading or something, but I could not see where they went.

Hopefully yours will time out (With my luck I was your wingman on 2/3 of them lol), and be reissued in due time.

I think if I detach, it will let the servers know that they are available for reissue right away, so they won't have to wait to time out..........

With the unit i'm getting at the minute, it crunches about 150 - 170 a day. So a small increase to 125 units a day should be more than enough for the time being.

I agree......I have not had any problems so far with the current limit, even on the Phased Penny.....BUT....
I think with the increased horsepower available in computing these days, the admins might consider that a small increase in the quota would be appropriate at this time.........

Not that I care either way anymore, but....

Looking over the work distribution for the year to date, I'm seeing the average credit granted for a WU is around 44 CS across all my hosts.

Assuming you have a host which can push 60 credits per hour per core on average, this works out to about 260 Tasks per day on average for an 8 core host if the work mix of AR's stays about the same. If you had a host which can do 100 credits per hour per core (none exist yet which can hit this mark that I know of), that still is only 436 Tasks per day.

Offhand, I don't see any pressing need to increase the quota, since that would just mean there would be that many more outstanding Tasks and WU's at any given time. In addition, it would mean there would be that many more Tasks which would have to get rerun through the mill anytime a host dumps its work load for any reason (and the attendant delays and increase in outstanding work that comes with that).

The only time I could see them updating the stats a little would be if we had four or five days of nothing but short units.

Agreed, but currently they try to mix them up to avoid the BW (both internal and external) hit they were taking when they started sending a steady diet of shorties. I guess that strategy depends on being able to get a stedy flow of longer running work from the telescope to keep doing that. Unfortunately since they piggyback for data, that's not really something they have any control over.

The other wildcards will be when they finally roll out AP and start doing serious NitPicking on the MSD. Who know what effect that will have on performance overall here on the main project. If history holds, it won't be good initially. ;-)
