I noticed in the "Help Wanted" section, S@H is asking for help in creating a PS3 version of SETI@home.

Does anybody know if there are serious plans to do this? I think it would be incredible, but it seems to me that it wouldn't be that easy to do, or to get Sony to allow. I'm pretty sure there would have been some financial incentive for Sony involved in the Folding@home thing.....

Sony doesnt have to allow it, it can be run through linux just like PS3grid does... just need to get the code created to run with the CellBE.

As far as i know a S@h client for Linux on the PS3 already exits, which uses 3 SPU, so you have to start 2 instances of this client to use all 6 available SPU ...

Personally i think a S@h client for the Game OS of the PS3 would make more sense, but it seems that SONY is more interested in Folding@home and doesnt want another project which might draw away some of the computing power currently comitted to F@h :(

hi there

I think only programmers for cell processors can help us. Sony probably dont want any other @home client on PS3 except f@h.

I have PS3 too and im running sometimes f@h. I have to say ps3 crunch big WUs very fast.

Since there is no s@h client for ps3 we cant compare fairly the speed of ps3 cell cpu with the modern cpus for normal computers.

I know a guy with a ps3 farm, he have 10 ps3s and crunch for f@h.

Regards
