On my SETI profile it says I've been a member since August, '04, when I switched over from SETI Classic to BOINC. I originally signed up for SETI Classic in October of 2000. On the leaderboards I see names with signup dates as far back as '99, with thousands of credits. It looks to me like their SETI Classic credits are showing up, since BOINC wasn't around in '99. Or was it? So I'm puzzled. Would anyone be willing to help clear up my confusion. Thanks in advance. |

Is it possible that when you moved to boinc you opened a new account instead of activating your seti account. Getting started If you had an account in the original 'SETI@home Classic' project as of 14 May 2004: We've transferred your account, including profile and team information. You must now activate the account. Otherwise: Create a new account |

IF you use an other email adress (=new account = new creation date ) this could be ONE possible answer. friendly ric |

As already mentioned, it sounds like you've created a new account by using another e-mail address than the one in use on sah classic. > On the leaderboards I see names with signup dates as far back as '99, with > thousands of credits. Thanks in advance. It's not their classic credits nor is it a combination. The sign up date refers to the date you signed up for sah (regardless of it being on the boinc platform or not) - but if you created a totally new account, it doesn't know when you actually joined and think you've only just signed up. I'm guessing you have no or zero classic work units mentioned on your sah/boinc account. This would be a clear indicator that you created a totally fresh sah account. Hope our answers clear things up a bit for you ;-) S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club © |

Thanks to all (Switzerland, Denmark, and Down-Under) for the help. Yes, it looks like I created a new account rather than activating my existing account. I don't see a way to fix it. But that's OK. It's a good reminder to me that what we're doing here is not about how high my numbers are, but how high is our collective vision. Clear skies. |

If you don't mind "loosing" your current credit on sah2 you could just activate it now ;-) > It's a good reminder to me that > what we're doing here is not about how high my numbers are, but how high is > our collective vision. Pascal, I'm glad you weren't offended. Being an ex-Navy type, my "smart-ass" remarks sometime get the best of me. |
