After the screensaver load and when im coming back to pc my mouse is invisble i can use it and click but i cant see where it is i need help Hi, what do you have to do to get the pointer back? Is it the seti screensaver, or a windows/other screensaver? Basically, we need more info. I see you're using Boinc 5.10.28 and the stock seti application (5.27) on an : CPU type GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1] Number of CPUs 2 Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.01.2600.00) |

Oddly enough I had a call this past week where an XP machine was losing it's mouse after returning from the screensaver. No SETI involved, just the OEM screensavers. The fix there was to download and reinstall the video drivers. The card in question was an Nvidea GeForce 8600GT. |

Try going into the control panel and click on the mouse properties. Under the pointer options tab near the bottom, you'll see "Hide pointer while typing" and "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key". Make sure the "hide" isn't checked and check the CTRL key box in case the other was already checked. Even if your mouse isn't visible after that, when you hit the CTRL key, it'll show you were it is until you find out what the problem is. Hope this helps you a bit. |

okay thanks for your answers, iam using an razer diamondback with a normal windows pointer, the error is coming after the seti screensaver when screensaver is active and i move my mouse iam coming to the login screen so where i can chose the user and there i CAN SEE my pointer (windows xp, its like when you are booting after the startscreen) so if i select my account iam coming back to windows and my pointer is invisible. iam using a geforce 6800ultra with 1280x1024 32bit if i reboot everything is normal pointer is visible, but after screensaver its invisible before i used seti there never was that problem!! |

After the screensaver load and when im coming back to pc my mouse is invisble i can use it and click but i cant see where it is i need help I've read somewhere else (in a gaming forum) that lowering the video hardware acceleration could fix this. Right click on your desktop, go to "Properties", "Settings" tab, hit "Advanced" button, "Troubleshoot" tab there , then change the "Hardware acceleration" slider from "Full" one or two steps down. Maybe worth a try... HTH Andy |

Hmmmm... do you have the password protection activated for the screen saver? The BOINC screen saver doesn't play very well with this... Andy |

okay thanks for your answers, iam using an razer diamondback with a normal windows pointer, the error is coming after the seti screensaver I had this problem with the 6800. Try dropping the resolution to 1024x768. This cleared it on mine. Have upgraded to 7100 gpu since & no problems. I think it was down to the high res & not enough gpu ram. |

Nah. I have a 6800GT, which is just a slightly slower version of the Ultra. 256MB GDDR3. I have mine running at 1280x1024, 32-bit. No issues. I suspect mouse driver and/or settings... |

reinstalled mouser driver and checked settings after, doesnt work... hrm... you mentioned that your system resets itself to the "login" screen. Does this happen at other times (I.E other than when the screensaver glitches)? Try turning off the screensaver and see if it happens. Unless you have a CRT (cathode ray tube) type monitor, a screensaver isn't really needed anyway. |

reinstalled mouser driver and checked settings after, doesnt work... hrm... Is it a standard PS2 mouse? When I upgraded my old PS2 mouse to a Typhoon optical one, the pointer would disappear or zoom all over the screen. It came with it's own driver disk but I thought that it would work under Windows without them. Once I installed the drivers, no problems. however, over the past few months, I have noticed that when windows suffers a system error & reboots itself, I lose the mouse & have to reinstall the drivers. Decided to try mouse on other systems & same problems. Since changing over to a new quality set of Keyboard & Mouse (no drivers provided), it has been running ok without any problems. So not only could it be a driver/settings problem, it could be the quality of the mouse itself. |

you mentioned that your system resets itself to the "login" screen.... That's the part that puzzled me too (so I asked for the screen saver password protection). Seems to me like the host restarts itself after a whatever failure... Still curious... Andy |
