The King's International Gauntlet 2007

Since a while there is an idea to organise a SETI@home BOINC Gauntlet between various international teams. The last Gauntlet we organised was a SETI@home Classic Gauntlet in 2005. This idea layed low for a while because we couldn't find a programmer to make the statistics script needed for this Gauntlet. But S@NL teammember FilmFreak has taken the bull by its horns and build a new script.
So now we are ready to kick off the very first SETI@home BOINC Gauntlet!

We've called this Gauntlet "The King's International Gauntlet 2007".

What does a Gauntlet mean?

A Gauntlet is a temporary subteam competition. The origins of those Gauntlets lies with the Ars Technica Lambchop team, but they've been held international a few times already.
It works like this: Subteams are made of about 20-30 crunchers. From the start of the Gauntlet there is a daily update of the statistics of these subteams. The team that has the best production after a certain period of time, wins the Gauntlet.

This new Gauntlet will start at Sunday the 4th of november 2007 at 20:00 hrs GMT+1 and will end at Sunday the 18th of november 2007 at 20:00 hr GMT+1.

The following teams are putting one or more Gauntletteams together:

* SETI@Netherlands
* OverclockersUK
* Planet 3DNow
* UK BOINC Team
* SETI.Germany
* Icewolves
* Team Anandtech
* Dutch Power Cows
* BOINC.BE
* OcUK

We hope that more will follow.
You can view these teams on our Gauntlet statistic page.
While the Gauntlet is running, there is a daily update at 20:00 hr (GMT+1) of the progress on the site of FilmFreak, the member of SETI@Netherlands who created the statsscript. You can find these stats on this page.

We have started a thread on our international forum where all the competitors can discuss this Gauntlet. Members of OcUK and Seti.Germany have already registered on our forum to chat with us about the Gauntlet.
During this Gauntlet it will not be necessary to register on our forum to post in the International forum.
Other teams also started threads about the Gauntlet on their forums. Click on the links in the list above to open these threads.

We wish every competitor good luck in this Gauntlet and that the best may win.

Extra, the results of the last Gauntlet:

I have sent an email to the 53 registered people on Boincteams.com

I have also added this to the news on the front page of the website.

Many of them are team founders so it should help spread the word!

So who is the King you are slapping your gauntlet at? I would know which king you favour or dishonour.

Pray tell me, where do I get 20 to 30 crunchers to join King Henry V and England's best!? We are but a few who come to take this land of sETi and it's alien races for the Crown. On, on, you noblest English. Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof! Join us and the King's shilling will await.

Thanks for your interrest.

We have got enough teams for the Gauntlet race for now.
So we don't accept any more teams from now on anymore.

Team Ireland and PADDY'S IN SPACE are the final ones who will participate.

I suppose we will organize more gauntlets in the future.

Till then: happy crunching, and see you all later.

Goodbye Seti Classic

I would do so Lord Johnney, but I fear the exploits of the winning English is already know in these sETi lands and the game is afoot without.

The noble lords of England are always ready to accept the gauntlet and forth with valiant fight.

Can we have a head start?

Then you must act quickly Lord Ice, i fear they are closing the gates to the battle field due to the many Armys that want to fight for the Gauntlet!

You must quickly read from this scripture; http://www.seti.nl/content.php?c=gauntlet_faq

Contained in that scripture is a contact email address and you must quickly dispach a messanger to holland!, SETI@NETHERLANDS to be precise!

Contained in your email scripture you send to holland, you must list your current Army to do battle!

Like this.....
Team name; ABC
User name; ICE
SETI@home Account number; 123456

And also list your team England Gauntlet message address!

Or post a message on the SETI@NETHERLANDS forum in this message; http://forum.seti.nl/showthread.php?t=14210

Good luck!
Lord Johnney of Guinness!

Your kindness is outstanding Lord Johnney of Guiness. These foreign lands even further than of France are a mystery to me and I can assure you that King Henry V himself would praise the service that you do for us.

May the Irish always be in our hearts for the favour you do to us this day :)

Lord Ice I rather like this title. I could get quite used to it ;) Thanks Johnney!

Hi there Folks.

Listen. I'm usually the last one to complain but a 48 hr window for registration is kinda short. I'm rather disappointed as I sent out many emails to my team mates in an attempt to field a team for the gauntlet. I hope you can organize another tournament (possibly a series or league?) in the near future.

Best of luck to all participants,
Pawly

Pawly,
Follow the instructions i just posted for Ice. If you do it quickly, i'm sure they will still accept your team!

Pawly you have one of the biggest teams in the world! I will help to fight your case!

Thank you Los Alcoholicos~DPC - Easy, also to Pawley for helping with the persuasion, and especially to Lord Johnney of the Guinness who is a real good bloke. Cheers mates - I think we're in the tournament. Our lances are balanced, our horses are shod, and we're up for whatever it is. Whenever you're ready, just show us the hare :)
