LHC@home has some new WUs at the moment. They have a new policy to only allow 1 WU per host per hour so if you have tried to get work from LHC before without success you may have more luck now. Regards, Keith {EDIT} There is also a temporary limit of 2 WUs per CPU per day. See the LHC news and message boards for more. {/EDIT} Sir Arthur C Clarke 1917-2008 |

LHC@home servers have been unreachable for the last 16 hours or so according to Scarecrow's pages. Anyone know what is wrong. I've tried pinging lhcathome.cern.ch ping lhcathome.cern.ch Pinging hepboinc.ph.qmul.ac.uk [138.37.50.115] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 138.37.50.115: bytes=32 time=214ms TTL=51 Reply from 138.37.50.115: bytes=32 time=210ms TTL=51 Reply from 138.37.50.115: bytes=32 time=174ms TTL=51 Reply from 138.37.50.115: bytes=32 time=215ms TTL=51 Ping statistics for 138.37.50.115: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 174ms, Maximum = 215ms, Average = 203ms [edit] CHANGED TITLE OF THREAD [/edit] Sir Arthur C Clarke 1917-2008 |

It's down again (after releasing work this morning!) That's two weekends in a row that LHC had gone down. Are the servers controled by a light switch that gets turned off when they leave for the weekend? :) |

It's down again (after releasing work this morning!) According to their front page this morning they were losing power to the lab and will be out for the weekend most likely |

Using the RSS feed from BOINC Synergy is a helpful tool. From there, it was posted:

Wow! I finally got a LHC WU! (I've been signed up for 6 months, but always miss the WU's when they are handed out). Boinc Button Abuser In Training >My Shrubbers< |

Wow! I finally got a LHC WU! (I've been signed up for 6 months, but always miss the WU's when they are handed out). You have to have rotten luck not to at least get 1 these days. They have a maximum of 10/core (4 core max) each day. This means no system can get any more than 40/day. I got 8 today. That looks to be all, unless there are some reissues. The payout is significantly less than here, so for those of you who are extreme stat chasers, LHC isn't going to bump your BOINC-wide stats up... |

don't forget to check out the LHC screensaver. Yeah, it is definitely a nice-looking screensaver...even though it doesn't actually simulate the task you're working on... |

don't forget to check out the LHC screensaver. Well, from what I remember those centerfolds pics look nothing like my wife, but they remain nice to look at. |

don't forget to check out the LHC screensaver. I said "simulate", not "stimulate"... |
