Actually all of us are important in eliminating the places where a signal is not present. Too bad that only a band of the sky, and more important the Milky Way is visible to the dish.

That the increased data rate by the new detection of seven (all near each other) signals increases the possibility of finding something is important. Maybe the next one will have another circle of antenna increasing work load even more. With the multiple cpu's in everything from laptops to desktops computing power is also increasing.

Just some idle thoughts for the New Year.
