We'll see. and that is sad because part of you are viciously opposed to others. Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Oh the humanity! Rational people crunching data! I did NOT authorize this belly writing! |

It is not opposing of others what I see is in the Forum people not at least from 50 countries are talking. For Seti project as most would feel as really amazing project in most peoples' lifetime, that kind of unhealthy phenomenon is not making sense. And please do not ignore that many Seti members are doing many other boinc protein projects which concentrated on pure human future well being. As Seti the most dominant effecting dc project if there are more healthy ideals make up the project structure the other scientific dc projects will follow its example. (and of course that would attract sufficient funding from many possible corners, I believe) I am not opposing one person or one country, I am opposing one phenomenon that seemingly make the project (or project culture to be precise) unhealthy. The phenomenon is described in the very first post. Mandtugai! |

Because you are yourself belonging to the subject country who has 220 000 members it is clear that you are simply protecting the majority Dominance Effects. (that is not healthy ethics for Seti ethical ground) That is a completely unfair comment for you to make of me (not to mention untrue). I am not protecting anything. And why would I? Native Americans are probably the smallest minority in the world. Just because I happen to speak English doesn't make me "one of them". You should try to quit looking at this as an adversarial viewpoint and try looking at this from a realistic perspective. But I think I'm just about out of steam here. I think I'm going to take my advice given earlier and just let my word stand on their own (especially if you're going to keep making false accusations like what you did here, I don't need it). |

I thought we had already established via convo's that there was no such thing as a diversion from 'male logic' v 'female logic' when it came to structure and math.... Of course....I'm not silly enough to believe that holds in relations of course. heheee Founder of BOINC team Objectivists. Oh the humanity! Rational people crunching data! Lately this thread has gotten very personal and the mods are having to delete multiple posts. We have a lot of different viewpoints here and I love reading legitimate examples of them. I also understand that political posts can get heated but remember--You can disagree with a viewpoint and not have to rip a person personally...but that is not what has been occuring lately. I'm going to say this very clearly--if you disagree with me (which is your right), feel free to email the Mods List but DO NOT post it here. I am not referring to any specific person here. If you have an issue with someone personally-PM THEM! If you are unable to do that, then let it go.. there is to be no more personal insults here or I will close this thread permanently. In a way this relates to other threads as well. Thank you for your attention... |

If one job was done with 220 people but only 10 of them have chance to talk about it and do not care that other 210 whatever they can or cannot speak english or they have not motivation to speak with active ones, is kind certain big ignorance type. (out of 247 I guess around 20 countries are kind of play thing) This is scientific project that means advanced ideals supposed to dominate that means all participants should have a chance to talk whatever they belong to majority country or minority. And in some ways only english speaking Main Seti Forum and only English Way Thinking Forum is not giving chance to other 210 to speak. We all see that fact. Mandtugai! |

Well it is not wrong to fix a Forum that only 5% (10) speaks. Mandtugai! |

You did your bit. When young men seek to be like you, when lazy men resent you, when powerful men look over their shoulder at you, when cowardly men plot behind your back, when corrupt men wish you were gone, and when evil men want you dead. . . Only then will you have done your share. . . ~ Phil Messina ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Well it is not wrong to fix a Forum that only 5% (10) speaks. Maybe Seti need to open an idea thread and collect ideas how to transform the Forum into real Main Seti forum and then transform it. My ideas: - To open a section (like cafe or politics) that lists all countries names and people can enter to that and talk in their room, maybe called as International Talk. - On the main page [http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/index.php] in one display section to show 10-20 countries flags for few days that each have a link to their specific forum section and participation statistics. I am sure many other people would tell many better ideas. Mandtugai! |

After discussing this issue with Eric and the other mods, it's been determined this thread has run it's distance. I am locking the thread after this...any further questions on this can be referred to Eric Korpela. From Eric: If any member of SETI@home wants to advertise for us and get enough |
