0.9.6 13-Sep-2004 ( Monday night football release )

What's New

Nothing

What's Fixed

- Boinc CC version checking disabled, some users reporting it was saying you needed version 4.0 but the application was.
- Fix IOException errors in DbAgentService / BoincSpyAgent applications.

Note: There has been reports that BSpy will not work under Win98, I will be investigating in the next few days.

To Update: Make sure you reinstall GAC files.

Can be found in the usual place:

Hi
Help needed, please - I cannot install properly BoincSpy.
What am I doing:
1. DL and unzip it into c:\boincspy
2. I have .NET 2.0.b installed
3. According to instructions I run setup.exe from the \GACInstall directory
4. I make a copy of \Viewer\BoincSpy.exe.config.template named BoincSpy.exe.config in the same directory
5. At \DbAgent\ I dont have file named BoincSpyAgent.exe.config.template and I take a copy from \DbAgent\cmdline\ directory. At \DbAgent\cmdline\ I have exactly the same file BoincSpyAgent.exe.config
6. At \Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\ I have the following directories:
- BoincSpy.BOINCFileOperations
- BoincSpy.Databases
- BoincSpy.Interfaces
- BoincSpy.SETIFileOperations
- BoincSpy.Util
They're containing subdirectories and .dll-s

When I start the app from the \Viewer directory it shows: "BOINC not running". Clicking on the (I suppose) progress bar I receive this:
pic1
pic1a

When I click on "User: linkLabel1" I receive this:
pic2
pic2a

Whats wrong?
Thanks

Hi Bob

First of all, thanks for time and effort in developing BOINCSpy ... an excellent application.

I have been using SETISpy for a number of years now and after switching over from SETI@Home Classic (lost my password and my email address is no longer valid) to SETI@Home on BOINC (new account setup) I had been trying various applications to see which ones could provide a similar level of detailed results as SETISpy ... currently running your software along with BOINCLogX/SETI@Home-MapView.

My only gripe with BOINCSpy is the fact that it doesn't log the Work Unit results ... I understand that it is possible to achieve this with BOINCSpy but requires an SQL database to be running on at least one of the client boxes.

While the SQL database might be a useful tool for some users to have, for the majority of users this seems to me to be an overkill (not MS bashing) ... can't the Work Unit results just be dumped to a text file (as with SETISpy) and then read from there by the Sky Map section of the software?

Also on the wish list ... the ability to automatically save Interesting Gaussians and/or Best Gaussians/Best Pulses etc would be nice.

I'm not a programmer so don't know how complicated any of this would be to add to the software, but as an end user, setting up an SQL database just seems to be unnecessary.

Thanks again.

:)

Hope this helps.

Stinky,

I have defined BOincSpy to change the logging mechinism to support sending the results to a .csv / .txt file. I have this on my list to do as soon as I get BSpy stable with the new BOINC CC 4.0x

With the option above I can do one / two or optionally set a flag, to record only interesting data items or save all of them and let the user filter them out.

Thanks for using BSpy.

Unfortunately it doesn't help - I am with the latest version of BOINC - 4.08. I red your other post about the bugs - lets hope it will help
