The longer computing times are OK, because the WU crunching time depends on the recording angle rate (AR) from the telescope. |

For some reason thiongs are running backwards on my computer. I don't know if you really mean the cpu time, a workunit has spent is decreasing. But I had a progress reset problem if setting the processor usage to a value < 100% in the Seti@home preferences. Then the science app runs for some hundred milli seconds, and idles for some. I did this to keep the CPU fan silent on my iBook. Using 40 % CPU usage, I observed a random, but frequent reset of progress to 0%. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not. The cpu time was never reseted. So I simply lost the computation time and the workunit starts again from 0%. After setting back the cpu usage to 100% in the preferences, the problem was gone. I don't know if that is maybe also your problem. I can hardly believe the cpu time is decreasing. Maybe continuous changes of the system time is disturbing the Boinc software?? Time server settings in MacOS?? [iBook G4 1,3 GHz, MacOS 10.4.10, Boinc 5.10.7, optimized setiathome app (G4-optimized v7.1mb-nographics) V5.13 by Alex Kan] |

For some reason thiongs are running backwards on my computer. My last idea: ... the iBooks, PowerBooks are fastly loosing system time if power connection is lost and no battery is inserted for some seconds. When using the Mac the next time the system time is wrong, but an automatic connection to a time server will adjust that, but in between the jumping system time may disturb Boinc? It's only a guess.... I observed rapid changes in displayed CPU time of a running workunit some years ago using the old Seti Classic on a Windows system, if manually changing the system time. |
