I have to reinstall BOINC in my computer, everytime I reinstall, it regenerates a new CPID. But I want to use my existing CPID because of the credits. Can someone tell me how? I am using Windows XP. |

I have to reinstall BOINC in my computer, everytime I reinstall, it regenerates a new CPID. But I want to use my existing CPID because of the credits. There are a couple of different things you might be talking about. 1) Account CPID. This is based on your account and email. A reinstall will not change it. Changing email addresses will, and you have to keep your email addresses synchronized between projects. An email change will cause a temporary desunchronization that will fix itself as soon as all of the projects both have the new email address and have updated the stats XML export files. 2) The host CPID. This unfortunately is going to be different on each install. You might be able to do surgery on client_state.xml and get it set to an old value. BOINC WIKI |

I have a problem where my old computer crashed, I installed BOINC on the newer system, using the correct email and password but none of my credits or information show up on either my account site or in my BOINC manager. |

I've looked at the client_state.xml but could not find my previous host CPID number to change to. But anyway, there is actually an option in my account setting to merge computers. I've merge the computers. Thanks John. |
