Downloade the new client 5.10.13 for 2 weeks ago and everything was ok. This topic has been thoroughly beaten to death in other threads. There is a new science application, designed to handle new data recorded on the new data recorder. The splitters had some undiscovered issues, and the new data recorder "hears" a terrestrial radar -- making the work noisy. Basically, it's been a bumpy transition. Seems to be (mostly) sorted out at this point. |

Won´t download new WU´s ( reffering to broken site etc ) How about copy and pasting a couple dozen of the last lines starting with the "requesting xxxx seconds" and ending many lines after that? thanks tony |

And that's all you've been getting for a week? have you gotten any work in that period? Or is it just on and off?? PS is there more log entries below that? I see you've returned one wu today and been credited for it. I put this in, just for added info. |

2007-08-20 18:06:36||General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2007-08-20 17:44:36) You've been changing your preferences two different ways - here on the website, and also in your BOINC client. That doesn't matter, and it isn't causing your current problem, but it may confuse you in the future when things are running smoothly. The local settings in your BOINC client take precedance, so either stick to using those while you're troubleshooting, or clear them out completely and just use the website. Mixing the two is going to muddy the waters even further. |

Looking at the last wu. I see you had it for 4 days, 5 hours, and actual run time was 2,700 seconds or 3/4's of an hour. That seems awfully long. Is there something you have set to make it run so slow? perhaps a laptop that doesn't run much, or prefs set to "do work only while not in use-Yes", On dial up and don't dial in frequently, or something. This probably doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but I just noticed it. |

OK local preference set and no change in behavior of the program. Have tryed to install older Clients aswell with no luck. The qustion is WHY the client changed it self from working to no´t ?? The lines are from today if you didn´t understand that.... |

The last line translates into "the boinc client couldn't reach seti, so I tried to reach google and yahoo. I reached them successfully so I'm guessing the seti server itself is down". |

Vantage, a question, are you behind a proxy ? just curious as it may be involved. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. And unlike most advice, it's backed up by proofs." -- Algorithms to live by: The computer science of human decisions. |

Okay, bear with me if you could, process of elimination. Are you running advanced firewall software such as ZoneAlarm pro or similar? "Jason gee" Yeah..having Norton Internet Security 2005 with all the goddies :-))) But thats no´t the problem i think. All port´s that the Boinc needs are cleared in Norton and the Router as well. It seems that the client can communicate with the server, but no´t download WU´s. Someone wrote that the servers are temporarily down, but this problem i having with Boinc it´s no´t just today however. |

Well I'm getting those system connect message now, but as you say it's been happening a lot [to your machine] I can suggest something to try. Once the servers are back up if it still does it for you - if your router has a hardware firewall that you believe to be configured properly, then I would switch norton off temporarily to establish if it is blocking traffic. If it works with Norton off, then some extra configuration in Norton will be required for boinc to operate through it when its enabled. Now when i turned of that program all things started to work as it should. So the problem is gone for now ( i hope ). To anyone out there who is experience the same problem that i´ve been through, check for this program in your browser... |
