Propaganda: As long as we both agree that the Daily Show and the Tonight Show are in the same category and NOT news, then there's nothing to argue there. So what exactly do you find so offensive about Fox news? Is it because they cater to their audience like every other business or is it because they cater to the majority of Americans. I mean let's face it, the Democrat party is a joke, everyone of them lied about stopping the war if they were elected, and if they nominate Hillary or Obama as their Presidential Candidate, not only will that cinch a Republican win, I think it will be the death of the Dems as a viable political party. |

We are in agreement. I only watch them for the comedy. Leno and Conan are much better comedians IMO. So what exactly do you find so offensive about Fox news? Is it because they cater to their audience like every other business or is it because they cater to the majority of Americans. I didn't like they way they presented the news around the time of the Iraq war. They were too agressive in presenting the administration's perspective, while being very hard against the administration's critics. This was especially so on Fox and Friends, but on other shows too. And they continue to present the Iraq situation in a way that favors the administration. The list goes on. Reporting on the global warming issue is another. Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, etc. But there are some things I admit I do like. Jamie Colby, you get the picture ;). I mean let's face it, the Democrat party is a joke Yes, in a nutshell. everyone of them lied about stopping the war if they were elected That's because the majority of them are professional liars. and if they nominate Hillary or Obama as their Presidential Candidate, not only will that cinch a Republican win, I think it will be the death of the Dems as a viable political party. I'm not sure about that one. I believe it'll be close. Dissatisfaction with the ongoing situation in Iraq may tip the balance in favor of the Democratic candidates. |

The question is: does it really matter? IMHO both fractions fight about who get's the bigger share of the pie. Democrats should be p...d at the Democrats for pretending to stand for freedom, yet they too are sponsored by donations from the industry. Republicans should be really p...d at Bush, Cheney, Rice and friends. They just pretend to be patriots but in fact they ruin the country to fill their and their friends purses. The only thing I don't understand is how (if he is not a profiteer but let's say just a "normal" state employee) someone can defend a gouvernment that so openly cheats on his citizens. A true patriot defends his country from threads from the outside AND the inside. If the loose change movie - as unbelieveable as it seems, but the amount of inconsistancies they discover makes me feel sick - contains just to the slightest degree some truth, then you should rather watch out. Maybe next time a plane is falling on your office... |

Ahhhh yes, you found it offensive that they catered to THEIR audience just like I stated. Notice there was nothing said about a lack of objectivity or not covering the issues, or outright Dan Rather type lies.....you just disagreed with their pro-Bush stance.
That tip in their favor was destroyed when 99.9999% of those elected to Congress lied about their intentions. You know, it wasn't an accident that the Rep's ruled congress for the last 12 years, and it won't be a mistake when we take Congress back.....nominate a black man or a woman on top of that....doesn't matter how effective of a leader you "think" they would be. And I really think that's just plain ol' common sense. |

I agree. According to what I experienced to be left-wing, the Democrats really are a joke. Too similar to the Republicans in their goals and agendas. But if I were American and allowed to vote, I would vote for them instead of the Republicans, as the lesser of two evils. Account frozen... |

The question is: does it really matter? Well as an uninformed foreignorer who's oblivious to his own ignorance concerning American Politics, it's understandable that you don't know jack about our country beyond what you gather from your biased news sources, many of which are still telling lies like there were no WMD's in Iraq, and political idiots like yourself, who still think their opinions count, wonder why there are so many inconsistencies. One has to wonder about the intelligence of a man who sees all these inconsistencies and cheating when the Democrat majority Congress can't find ANYTHING to impeach the President for.....I guess that's just one of the inconsistencies Micheal Moore didn't "report" to you, huh? |

Then you too, would be guilty of electing politicians who intentionally lied to you. Did the Reps lie about invading the middle east, or did the President address the world and tell you what we were going to do? Did the Reps lie about withdrawing troops from the middle east, or did the President address the world and state we are sending in MORE troops? Did the Reps lie about cutting funding for the war then raise taxes so the govt would have MORE money to spend on the war, or was that the newly elected Democrat majority in congress? All you have to do is try thinking with your brain instead of your heart.... |

BrainSmashR, I really don't understand you. You live in the US and so you will have to pay the price and not I. YOU should be the one making sure your gouvernment does not cheat on you. All your statements are as ignorant and biased as you claim mine and others are just with the difference that we are not getting personal. Why all that hate? All you have to do is try thinking with your brain instead of your heart.... Goddamnit, that's exactly the point. Just live it and you will find out that it's good and patriotic guys like you that are abused for personal interest. WMD were found, you are right. But what was stated and why Iraq was attacked was still a fake. So in the end it's like shooting a suspected drug dealer and later just finding some empty bags with traces of drugs and saying "yeehaw, we caught a drug lord". And how naive are you to believe that just Democrats lie? Jeezus, wake up, man. Have you read about Halliburton and Iraq and the billons of dollars wasted? About the guys and girls fighting there for you getting dirty water and uniforms, being sent there unprepared in not suiteable vehicles? You want to tell me that's ok? Man, I just pray to god that you are right and I am just a uninformed, biased and ignorant foreigner. Elsewise you are in deep trouble and you don't even get it until it's too late. |

So if I am a foreigner (in this case non US) I am the following: 1. Uninformed 2. Ignorant 3. A political idiot 4. My opinion in matters in this world counts for less than 2 cents. That sounds like propaganda. Oh. And all news sources are biased to some degree. They cater for their target audience and to the benefit of a small group of individuals (the guys running the media outlet, certain industries, pollies etc). That is why there is always conflicting stories about what happens and it can take a long time for the real truth to be found. But don't listen to me. I know nothing. I'm just a foreigner (unless you are in Australia, in which case you are the foreigner). Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope. |

BrainSmashR, I really don't understand you. You live in the US and so you will have to pay the price and not I. YOU should be the one making sure your gouvernment does not cheat on you. I am quite sure my government isn't cheating me. If you shut your mouth and listen instead of trying to tell ME how life is in MY country, then you would know it too.
I have never expressed an opinion about your country, or it's government, so not only is your stament incorrect, it's an outright lie....imagine my surprise.
Of course, and you know this because you are an outsider looking in through rose colored glasses and I'm the dumbass living, working, and voting over here. You know, there's a reason most Americans don't care what foreigners who CHOOSE to remain ignorant want to think.
We invaded Iraq for possession of WMD in direct violation of UN orders to disarm FOR OVER A DECADE....any other reason you were "TOLD" for invading Iraq DID NOT come from the White House and President Bush. YOUR IGNORANCE OF THE TRUTH DOESN'T CHANGE ANY OF THE FACTS
Care to point out where I made that claim or can we agree that as a common foreign piece of trash, you're the one telling lies.
What part of I don't care about how hard life is for the enemy don't you understand, Einstein?
Imagine my surprise at finding out you also worship imaginary beings....and thinking that America is in ANY sort of trouble shows just how ignorant you really are... |

So if I am a foreigner (in this case non US) I am the following: If I was trying to sway your op[inion, then it would be, but since your ignorant to the true meaning of the term, you will continue to misuse it. BTW, as a non-us citizen who does not have a vote in this country, your opinion of our actions regardless of when and where they take palce IS irrelavent....and again, your lack of understanding in this matter IS another sign of your political ignorance.
Gee, you think that's why I DID NOT say I hate any news agency?
Well I know your reading comprehension skills certainly need improving and that certainly is indicative of your knowledge level..... |

They can cater to their audience all they want. My point is that I just don't/didn't agree with the biased way that they report/present the news. Whether it's Iraq or global warming or whatever. That tip in their favor was destroyed when 99.9999% of those elected to Congress lied about their intentions. You forget that people continue to vote for political parties that lie to them over and over. I was fooled once, but it was the last time. Unfortunatley, some people never learn. You know, it wasn't an accident that the Rep's ruled congress for the last 12 years, and it won't be a mistake when we take Congress... So, you're happy with the neocon people that said we needed a new "Pearl Harbor" event bring about change. |

My hopes are simple. I would prefer to have a party that just followed the Constitution, and was well, honest. But yes, I agree with you about them being the lesser of two evils. :D |

Oskar Wilde wrote: In old days men had the rack. Now they have the press. That is an improvement certainly. But still it is very bad, and wrong, and demoralising. Somebody - was it Burke? - called journalism the fourth estate. That was true at the time, no doubt. But at the present moment it really is the only estate. It has eaten up the other three. The Lords Temporal say nothing, the Lords Spiritual have nothing to say, and the House of Commons has nothing to say and says it. We are dominated by Journalism. In America the President reigns for four years, and Journalism governs for ever and ever. Fortunately, in America journalism has carried its authority to the grossest and most brutal extreme. As a natural consequence it has begun to create a spirit of revolt. People are amused by it, or disgusted by it, according to their temperaments. But it is no longer the real force it was. It is not seriously treated. Account frozen... |

I'm laughing at my spelling/grammar mistakes. :-D Well, when I'm in doubt I follow the red underlining in my browser. This helps me a lot - at least in spelling. I suppose sometimes my grammar is worse than the grammar in a Nigerian spam mail. Account frozen... |

I'm laughing at my spelling/grammar mistakes. :-D I wouldn't say your grammar is that bad. I have google spellchecker but never use it. It's not always accurate. |

So if I am a foreigner (in this case non US) I am the following: When the actions of your country or your people or your citizens affects my country in anyway, anywhere, I have every right to voice my opinion and be involved. Just as you would do if anyone or any country affected yours. The US has a habit of telling others what they should and should not do. But when someone else tells them what they should do the US tell them to butt out. Why should the US be allowed to do something that it won't let others do? But then I know for a fact that Australia is not important to the US.
This was a statement of fact for everyone, not just you. Especially since this thread is about propaganda (which includes distorting the facts for someone's gain or benefit).
??? You might be surprised by what I know and understand. But your perception is tainted. Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope. |
