Im wondering is it worth upgrading to the newest release of BOINC considering my circumstances?

e.g. New Zealand Dial Up (alot slower than American Dial Up), not a full on Cruncher of BOINC (running about 12 hours a day)

And would that mean i would have to reinstall Chicken?

(just forgot my version is 5.8.15 running quite well))

- Luke.

There is no need to upgrade right now.

I would say 5.8.15 is fine for now.

And you dont need to reinstall the chicken app then.
The boinc client has nothing to do with the sience application.

I concur w/ Mike. Current issues w/ most recent upgrades are not worth the hassles and frustrations they bring unless you REALLY want to beta test.
They're not quite ready for prime-time yet, hence why 5.10.7 for -doze was withdrawn.

5.8.16 runs good but I'm running 5.10.13 on all my machines with no difficulties.

I concur. There is no need to upgrade, but 5.10.13 is running well. There would be no need to re-install chicken after the upgrade as it is not deleted.

From all messages I've seen, Rom is in a HURRY to get out an updated "recommended" version. It maybe be released soon. Atleast that's my guess.

{this message is intended to save some people time. Especially those who don't like to upgrade often, and like to stick to recommended versions}

I found a little bug that I hope makes it into the next release. It is one of teh causes of the exit with no finished file message on windows systems.

I really hope the fix makes it in, instead. =;^)

The fix has been checked in, I don't know when it will be published.
