I just figured out how to access my old account and now would like to be able to combine the credits of the new account with the old. Can someone show me how? Thanks |

I just figured out how to access my old account and now would like to be able to combine the credits of the new account with the old. The account with which you are posting already has been attached to a Classic account (look at your account page). You can only attach a BOINC S@H account to one Classic account. You cannot merge two Classic accounts or two BOINC S@H accounts. BOINC WIKI |

I just figured out how to access my old account and now would like to be able to combine the credits of the new account with the old. Your old credits from SETI Classic will never be combined with the new credits from the current SETI due to the difference in the way credits are calculated (the old one simply gave 1 credit for every returned result, the new SETI gives credits based upon Floating Point Operations Per Second). Therefore, your SETI Classic credits will always remain a separate stat reflected in your account to show your contribution. This is true for everyone. |

Quibble: not “Per Secondâ€Â, as it’s the actual number of computations involved in a given task that determines the credit claim, regardless of how long they take to perform on a particular system. (Operations per second would pertain to the BOINC benchmarks.) |

I have two 'modern' accounts. So if I understand this thread, they are forever separated? |

This is the other account which I have been referencing. |

I have two 'modern' accounts. Yes, two BOINC accounts cannot be combined. Your email address is your unique account identifier. You'll have to choose between one of your accounts and carry on with that. |

(Operations per second would pertain to the BOINC benchmarks.) Thank you for the correction. I actually thought it was done 'per second', which is where the CPU time comes into effect when it shows in the results. I guess that's not correct then. |

(Operations per second would pertain to the BOINC benchmarks.) There are two basic methods of calculating credit at the client. The first way is benchmarks * time = FLOP count (this can be inaccurate). The second is a direct calculation of FLOP count by a project application (this is usually exceedingly stable). BOINC WIKI |

Thank you for the correction. I actually thought it was done 'per second', which is where the CPU time comes into effect when it shows in the results. I guess that's not correct then. The project may use the timing data for evaluating the apps’ performance, but they no longer have any effect on credit claims unless the result was submitted by a BOINC client older than v5.2.something. |
