For the longest time, my main computer would work on two units at any given time. Now, it will only work on one unit at a time even though I have not made any changes to my preferences. There is usually one or two units waiting to start so it is not a matter of lack of available units. |

Some users have said that their preferences were messed up after a database problem. Can you verify that your preferences have not changed? |

The preferences look the same. My second computer, which is actually not as good as my main computer, is working on two units at a time. |

The preferences look the same. My second computer, which is actually not as good as my main computer, is working on two units at a time. There could be a few reasons. You may not have enough work downloaded to work on a second unit, or you may not have enough free RAM to process a second one. If you can copy and paste all the messages from your messages tab in BOINC Manager, it may give a clue as to what's happening. |

I do have enough tasks to be working on two at one time. There are at least four tasks waiting to start while the one is running so I do not think that is the issue. One of her machines is listed as having just 1 CPU. Might this not be the problem? |

The following is a copy of my messages. This machine is only listed as having one CPU. It will only work on at most one task per CPU. BOINC WIKI |

Well, I think that's a good start (clue). Both systems have the same exact CPU type/model, so my guess is that HyperThreading got turned off in the BIOS, or if the system was worked on recently, Windows may not be recognizing the second virtual CPU due to the wrong HAL. |

Thanks for your help. My hyperthreading was turn off and I was able to enable it again and it fixed the problem. |
