Hello,

I've been having problems with my BOINC application for a couple of weeks now (on my Apple Mac). For some reason, none of my finished will upload, and I'm not able to download any new ones. I've tried uninstalling the application, as well as downloading the very latest version of BOINC & installing that. And I know my firewall isn't the problem because the settings have been the same for the last 2 yrs (where BOINC has worked fine), and my ISP service is fine as well. The weird thing is that my BOINC application on my office PC is working brilliantly, so I know the problem isn't with the BOINC servers. I'd therefore be very grateful for any assistance, and am wondering whether anyone else is experiencing similar problems.

Many thanks,
Ed.

There was some problems with the SETI servers, which gave this error as response permanently. The problems at the server side are fixed, so the message should not occur anymore normaly.
But, you are using a old BOINC client, which caches the DNS resolutions. So this message/problem could also occour. Please update to the newest BOINC client (5.8.17).

Unfortunately I'm still having this problem. I've updated to the very latest BOINC software (5.8.17), but am still having problems downloading & uploading. Are you sure there still aren't any issues with your servers?...I've never experienced this sort of thing before & have been using BOINC for a few years now.

Many thanks,
Ed.

It looks like the http errors come back today. In the number crunching forums has other users reported the same problems. Also, I get the same error, too.

Yes Edskii I've had the same problem for at least the last three days; I don't check my BOINC Manager all that often so it might well have been longer. Always a scheduler request failure.

I installed the latest version of Manager for Mac OSX today but still no joy. At least I managed to send a report which I couldn't do with my previous version but can't download any new work.

These are the latest messages:

Mon Jun 11 18:06:00 2007|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work
Mon Jun 11 18:06:00 2007|SETI@home|Requesting 8640 seconds of new work

This problems where related due server problems. My Mac has downloaded new work. I hope, that it works on your systems now, too.

From the frontpage news :
June 11, 2007
Update: We're moving our usual Tuesday outage to today (Monday) in order to clean up some problems we've been having with the BOINC database over the weekend. The data servers and most web pages will be offline during this time.

I am experiencing exactly the same problems you describe since I use the new boinc client on my iBook - but not only with Seti, but also other projects. On my other machine (WinXP Pro) everything is fine.

I thought of maybe a firewall problem on my mac (though you know for sure, that OS X has an build in firewall, too.

So if you are checking firewalls, it´s´not only on your router but also mac.

Though I havn´t found a solution yet ...

Have just downloaded the latest version of the application (5.10.7) and am still experiencing the same problems. Actually I can download new work just fine, process it ok, but then still can't upload it. I've switched off all the firewalls on my MacBook Pro (OS X internal firewall, NetBarrier firewall, wi-fi router firewall), but still can't upload completed work. I'm guessing that the problem must still be with the BOINC software for Apple Macs, or the BOINC / SETI servers, because I've never experienced these problems before in the last few years of using this program.

Many thanks,
Ed.
