Just wanted to apologise to all who responded to my newbie post and didn't get a reply from me. All responses were much appreciated. I'm hanging in there. The bl**dy vista thing is currently crunching some einstein stuff since it seems a shame to leave its two fast-ish processor cores idle - tho' I note with interest that I'm receiving units from this alternative project approximately 10 times the size I ever got from seti! Just as well vista-thing is a bit faster than this machine.

Meanwhile the linux box ie. this one has reported a result and my a/c has received credit. But there's no way I can attach to another BOINC project with this computer and run seti as well; it's just too slow. So I'm leaving BOINC running, reading the 'no work' messages, and awaiting events.

best of luck and here's to the revival of the project some time this week.

Why do you think it is too slow to run more than S@H? I have a dual 200 attached to about 10 projects.

I just retired my dual 200Mhz Pentium Pro (which got on just fine). Replaced with dual Pentium III 1.0 Ghz. This was done as a RAID drive swap as will happen with Thumper soon.

Fortunately for me it was a planned switch. That gave me the luxury of taking more than a week to switch.

The Seti team is doing great to keep us with the uptime they have given the budget/equipment they are working with. Thanks gang.
