Hello,
I am running a brand new Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.0GHz system with 3GB of ram, nVidia 7300GT display adapter with 256MG of RAM.

Every Time I let my computer go to sleep, when it wakes up, Seti@Home is still up, and frozen. My left-hand (main) screen is inaccessible except via F11, where I must kill BOINC from the force quit menu. (Sometimes I must even log off and log back in)

I would love to keep using Seti@home, but if this technical glitch cannot be overcome, I must uninstall it.

Please help,
Thanks

BOINC (as with most applications constantly using the processor) is not compatible with Sleep mode on computers while it's running. It would be the equivalent of you jogging down a sidewalk and somebody literally taking the ground out from underneath you.

If you want to use sleep mode, you should first suspend BOINC.

After I installed OS X 10.4, I started having problems with Seti@home software.

If I leave it on overnight, I often find the system locked up when I get up in the morning.

If I log off, disabling the Seti@home screen saver, the system will not lock up, or if I turn off Seti@home, the system will also not lock up.

The problem increased after I upgraded my ATA 66 card to an ATA 133 card so I could install a new larger 160 GB hard drive.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, This describes my problem perfectly, except occasionally it takes the form of a kernel panic. This never happened before upgrading to the 5.8 client.
