I am just running 1 SETI work unit at the moment and it is now completed. While attempting to report completion and download a new work unit I am receiving the above message. Is this caused by something in my settings or does the network shut down periodically.

Also, can I run more than one work unit at a time.

Weirdfish.

Check your account Web based General Preferences.
Under the section Network usage
Use network only between the hours of (if times set the same there is no restriction).

Also Boinc Manager Version 5.8.x+ check the Simple View Preferences which overrides the Web base settings.
Connect to Internet only between xx:xx and xx:xx (the first box can be set to anytime)

In the Advance view - Activity menu - check network Activity selection.

Also, can I run more than one work unit at a time.

Weirdfish.

Again, in the General Preferences Network usage
* *Connect to network about every x days (A good setting here would be 2 or 3 days)
- This controls how much work you get depending on how much crunching time Boinc get every day.
* *Cache enough work for an additional x days
- This option will only take effect with the next Boinc Manager Version.

Preference changes at the Website only take effect after Boinc makes contact again.

The "Time of Day" setting is preference set by the user, which can be found by clicking at the top of any SETI@Home web page under Your Account -> General Preferences -> Network Usage -> Use Network Only Between The Hours Of:

It can also be located in your BOINC client by switching to the simple view (if you're not already using it) by selecting View -> Simple View, then click on Preferences.

As for working on more than one workunit at a time, that's only possible with multi-core CPUs (such as dual core or quad core CPUs), or a CPU that supports Intel's HyperThreading Technology. Since your computers are hidden, I cannot tell what type of CPU you have to help further.

Or if you mean download more than one workunit at a time to be worked on later, you can change that setting in your online preferences at Your Account -> General Preferences -> Network Usage -> Connect to Network About Every X (where X is a number between .01 and 10). I wouldn't set that setting higher than about 2 or three.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
