I have read a couple of other threads relating to CPU usage. I run a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop and when CPU usage gets to 100% the CPU fan kicks in. It was expensive last time I had to have the cpu fan replaced as all repair work for laptops is expensive. Is there a way of configuring the machine and the seti@home software so that a) I can again participate in the search but b) not wear out the laptop by doing so? |

If you have not already done so, download the latest version. Set the CPU fraction to use to about 50%. (one second on one second off). This should reduce the fan usage. BOINC WIKI |

Chas, Welcome aboard! You may want to consider getting a laptop cooler.... we can't post links but the Antec one works beautifully for me. |
