Message 613924 - Posted: 3 Aug 2007, 7:34:22 UTC - in response to Message 613923.

In the opening stages Arthur C. Clarke explained how there were four stages in the way scientists react to the development of anything of a revolutionary nature. "Free energy" was now working its way through these four stages of reaction, which were:

a: "It's nonsense," b: "It is not important," c: "I always said it was a good idea," and d: "I thought of it first."

Okay. Like I said, let’s have this conversation again in 20 or 30 years… In fact, on August 3, 2037 I’ll be 59. With a little luck, I’ll still be breathing. So, do we have a date?

In the meantime, google 'entrophy'

;)

Message 613929 - Posted: 3 Aug 2007, 7:46:21 UTC - in response to Message 613919.

Of course. Any rationally minded person (which seems to include most scientists) would pooh-pooh anything that does not fit within the laws of physics as we currently know them.
As far as my thoughts go.....
There is no free lunch (or free energy). But there might be sources of energy available that we do not know about, understand, or are able to harness YET. I keep an open mind to assess any scientific proof that such sources exist, but have not seen any convincing evidence at this point. The motor that generates more power than that is input or the chemical reaction that releases more engery than that is contained in it's components has never been scientifically documented. Still, I will allow for that possibility and the evidence to prove that such scenarios exist.

As always, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

And if it happens in the next 30 years, well, I guess I'm in trouble. (but I don't think so)

Anyone watch the vid?

I'll most likely be dead in 2037 but you can converse among yourselves about this, then.

To be honest, I zoned out after 10 minutes or so.

But I'm willing to alter the deal to 10 years. 20. Whatever. When we get to toss thermodynamics out the window, I'm yours to do with as you please. (Bearing in mind, the whole pesky 'extraordinary proof' thingie)

you should also bear in mind that I'm not the most attractive bloom on the rose bush :)

Looks mean nothing to me. It's what's inside your head that matters!

Mostly empty space, I'm afraid.

But for now, as much fun as arguing with you has been, I really need to get some sleep (for some silly reason they expect me to be awake while I'm at work!)

Thank You. It was a very special, once in a lifetime photo op. I was just sitting in the living room playing with the computers, and happened to notice all of my kitties were sitting at the front screen door.
The next time I walked by, I seemed to notice that something had their undivided attention.
A little while later, I realized that they were all still riveted in their positions at the front door. Something urged me to grab the digital camera, and the rest is my avatar.
